This post here is for personal conversations which should happen but one or both of us doesn't want to put up a new post/log and thus we will just thread it out here. This can be used to thread with Helios anytime and anywhere. This can either be in person (with action), or via the journal's call feature (voice and/or written).

[Don is thinking about it, but he doesn't care. He's not going to say anything he wouldn't want Helios to hear.]

Sure. We've been friends a long time.

[At least, relative to how long Don has been friends with anyone.]

At least in terms of this place. Donatello has helped me with somethings in past--it'd only be right to do so for him now. [ And there will be some shuffling on his end as he gets up. ]

Then I'll be right over. I'll just need to get some supplies first.

[ninjacane]

[Splinter blinks in surprise when he realizes that Helios overheard them, and then looks a bit embarrassed. Oops.]

[Don doesn't notice anything.]

Do you know where we live, Helios? [He doesn't remember you being here before.]

It's quite alright. There's no need to thank me. [ Oh wait he doesn't derp. ] Oh! [ Wait... ] I don't recall actually! I apologize. Directions would be wonderful.

[ Sheepish laugh. This is the man who is going to help protect your family how do you feel?! ]

House 55. The south end of the village, east of the river. [Because everyone thinks in terms of cardinal directions, right?]

[ninjacane]

[... Splinter has mixed feelings about it now.]

Please make sure that you are not followed. We will be waiting for you.

Thank you I'll be sure to keep an eye out. I'll be there shortly. [ The transmission is cut off as Helios leave. Shortly meaning about ten minutes. But there will be knock on the front door of their house. Helios will be standing there with nothing more than a piece of chalk some papers and a well...a knife, but it's concealed for now. He doesn't want to give the wrong impression--if only the spell didn't require blood; he'd have to figure out a way someday. ]

[Don answers the door; already holding a paper with the names of most of the people who should be allowed into the barrier. They'll add the rest of their friends later. For right now, it seems more important that a barrier is in place to keep certain people out.]

Hi. Thanks for coming on such short notice.

[ninjacane]

[Splinter watches the man from a ways behind Donatello, eying him warily--he's not completely suspicious, but he is still reserved.]

Welcome to our home.

[folklorist]

[ He waves Don off smiling. ] It's not trouble at all. I wasn't very busy at the moment anyway! [ Helios' attention turns to Splinter and he'll nod. Helios doesn't seem at all surprised at the other's appearance he's actually rather accepting. ]

Thank you for allowing me to visit like this. [ Helios turns back to Don eying the paper. ] That's the list I take it?

Yes. [He hands it over.] We all wrote our own names, like you said.

[Splinter watches the both of them quietly for a moment. He looks Helios up and down, quietly noticing the concealed weapon. Nothing to cause alarm over. After all, it's not like they don't have concealed weapons of their own.]

[folklorist]

[ Concealed instrument of magical performance. Definitely not a weapon at least for Helios. He doesn't even notice Splinter's gaze eyes more focused on the reading the names on the paper. ] Good, good that'll make the barrier stronger. And you've written down the person who you want to keep out as well, correct?

That's her at the bottom. Not her own handwriting, of course. [Seeing if they can trick Karai into signing her name for them is also a project for another day.]

[Splinter is content with watching for now. Or, at least he was until that last comment.]

Does the handwriting of our enemy make it stronger?

[folklorist]

It does. But in truth sometimes it isn't entirely feasible to get such as in your case. But if the one who writes down the name has a good image of the person it's just as effective, not as strong, but it does what it needs to. The seal works in that a person is bound to their name almost like a soul, blood, or psychic bond. People sharing the same names cannot trick it because the spell can differentiate between the two, because the two names are from two entirely different people with entirely different thoughts and souls. The only feasible way I can see getting past it is by changing your name, and not being seen with this different name, or not having one at all. [ He'll be shuffling through the papers in his hands while looking around from his position at the house. ]

As for how the barrier works the way it does...

It was created and designed so that it is connected directly to the one who drew it. So if the creator gets injured the barrier will crumple just a little and in the worst case...completely disappear. [ Such as in death. ] Being able to keep the creators identity a secret is the really reason why it's so powerful. If you can't manage to find them, ah well, you're going to have a rough time getting through, to put it mildly.

[Don turns to Splinter.] I did mention that to everyone, didn't I?

Pffff yes it is. Or was.

[ninjacane]

[Splinter nods.]

That you did.

[To Helios.]

So keeping your identity a secret is of utmost importance.

[folklorist]

It's not necessary, I'm not exactly very well known as it is. But it would be for the best, yes. [ He'll be making his way towards the front door. ]

At any rate I-I should get started. It takes a bit to setup the spell.

[Don will follow. After witnessing your spell-casting at the playground he wants a closer look this time.]

Would it be possible for us to watch?

[Splinter is curious, too. He's not as rabid as Donatello about seeking knowledge, but he is curious. That, and he refuses to trust anything that he cannot watch be built with his own two eyes.

He includes Donatello in his question because he knows that his son is interested. Until recently, Splinter thought Donatello was interested in everything but his own hormones, and even those proved to be of interest to his son.]

Hm? Oh yes that's perfectly alright. It's not very showy or anything so I apologize in advance. [ Helios will standing outside the front door now looking around before bending down and taking out the knife from inside his coat. He'll use a fire spell to super heat it for sterility just to be safe. A few deep breath later and Helios will bring it to the palm of his hand and make a quick slicing motion so that blood will be dripping from his clenched palm. Just a small wince comes from him as he does so. ]

[i_speak_softly]

Not true. [- Don says to Splinter, before becoming completely distracted by what Helios has just done to himself. He hadn't seen that part at the playground.] Helios!

[ninjacane]

[Splinter is also surprised by this, and although he stares, he is much less horrified than his son. This explains why he had brought the dagger along. Splinter reaches out to touch Donatello's shoulder reassuring.]

Do not disturb him while he works. ... You may heal his wound afterwards.

[There's no need to worry.]
