ϡ - Appointments Post

This post here is for personal conversations which should happen but one or both of us doesn't want to put up a new post/log and thus we will just thread it out here. This can be used to thread with Helios anytime and anywhere. This can either be in person (with action), or via the journal's call feature (voice and/or written).

[Don turns to Splinter.] I did mention that to everyone, didn't I?

[Splinter nods.]

That you did.

[To Helios.]

So keeping your identity a secret is of utmost importance.

It's not necessary, I'm not exactly very well known as it is. But it would be for the best, yes. [ He'll be making his way towards the front door. ]

At any rate I-I should get started. It takes a bit to setup the spell.

[Don will follow. After witnessing your spell-casting at the playground he wants a closer look this time.]

Would it be possible for us to watch?

[Splinter is curious, too. He's not as rabid as Donatello about seeking knowledge, but he is curious. That, and he refuses to trust anything that he cannot watch be built with his own two eyes.

He includes Donatello in his question because he knows that his son is interested. Until recently, Splinter thought Donatello was interested in everything but his own hormones, and even those proved to be of interest to his son.]

Hm? Oh yes that's perfectly alright. It's not very showy or anything so I apologize in advance. [ Helios will standing outside the front door now looking around before bending down and taking out the knife from inside his coat. He'll use a fire spell to super heat it for sterility just to be safe. A few deep breath later and Helios will bring it to the palm of his hand and make a quick slicing motion so that blood will be dripping from his clenched palm. Just a small wince comes from him as he does so. ]

Not true. [- Don says to Splinter, before becoming completely distracted by what Helios has just done to himself. He hadn't seen that part at the playground.] Helios!

[Splinter is also surprised by this, and although he stares, he is much less horrified than his son. This explains why he had brought the dagger along. Splinter reaches out to touch Donatello's shoulder reassuring.]

Do not disturb him while he works. ... You may heal his wound afterwards.

[There's no need to worry.]

S-Sorry Donatello. I-I should've warned you, I apologize. It's fine though, really! I just...need to make the seals with-with blood. Otherwise they won't be as effective.

[ Helios will begin working on the first of the four seals he plans to draw around the outside of the house the first of which is right outside the front door. ]

[Don glances at Splinter, then watches Helios anxiously. He's not sure how he feels about his house being protected by his friend's blood.]

[Splinter keeps his hand on Donatello's shoulder.]

Let us hope there will be no need for a "next time".

Oh there shouldn't be. I-I know it's a bit...off putting but it does work. It's definately- [ just a slight pause as his eyes glow bright green for a second and the circle that's now drawn into the grass and dirt lights up with a blue light. ] -worth the trouble.

[ He'll straighten from his position on the floor. A small nod and a smile as he goes over his work before looking at Splinter and Donatello. ] One down, three more to go!

[ He nods. ] Back and the sides should do well enough in setting up a perimeter.

[Don well knows that some things are worth spilling blood for. He's just not used to seeing it done in this strange preemptive way.]

[It's hateful and horrifying - would he have asked Helios to do this if he had known? - but he'll follow the wizard around the house, unable to take his eyes off the proceedings.]

[Splinter watches as well, walking alongside his son.]

Does most of your magic need blood of some sort?

Usually only summonings, teleportation seals and of course barriers. Everything else is pretty simple and doesn't require it. [ There's also blood magic but that's pretty taboo even for Helios. ]

But it's generally not used very much, as I'm sure you can see why. Very unsettling to most and even to the one casting the spell it's sometimes detrimental to their health. At least here I have healing magic so it doesn't make the recovery time as long!

You don't have healing magic in your own world? [And you do this anyway?]

[And with his son back to asking questions as he usually does, Splinter just observes.]

Healing magic...is a very specific kind of magic in my world. It's hard to learn, nothing like here, where anyone can learn it. Most mythical creatures have some form of it but they're not so easily persuaded to revealing their secrets.

[ Helios will begin on the next circle finishing it faster than the last one as he gets back into the motions, and symbols, of the circle. ]

To be fair this isn't a common occurrence in my world. We do it rather sparingly...since summoning isn't exactly, er, legal.

Summoning?

[Questions make him feel more in control of a situation.]
