[ Very long day indeed. Helios should be sleeping as well but you know, when your best friend has just come back from the dead it's, well, it's a bit strange to sleep. Naturally pushing himself isn't going to do any good either but...he's given up on reading completely. It's depressing and the past week has been so hard because of the death penalty he received. Nothing to take him mind off what happened besides simply...wandering. He's almost wary to ask Giles what they took, if he even knows, but it's a topic that'll come up on its own.

He'll be walking into the living room books in hand and jump at seeing the other just sitting there quietly. Scared him bro, he almost drops those books too. ] Ah! Giles you're...still awake?

((ooc: Didn't know if I should reply yet but. Hope this is okay? D: ))

[Giles, who had actually been catching up on some of the reading he's missed since being blinded, is briefly and certainly startled in his own right when he hears sudden movements from back near the bedrooms. He yelps in fright, ducking his head in an instinctual attempt at defense against whatever attack is coming...before he realizes that it's just Helios.]

Ah! O-Oh, um...god, Helios. I'm sorry. Did, did I wake you?

((ooc: A lot is going to happen after their current thread timeline wise. So, this is okay, no worries :D. Has he told Giles about his penalty by now?))

[ Helios might laugh and wince at hearing that yelp. ] No no! I-I couldn't sleep. Um you're probably not tired are you? I wasn't...really when, when I came back.

[ He'll look down at the books in his hands before going over to the shelf and putting them back. ]

((ooc: Oh okay good just making sure! C: Not sure. Probably not yet. He keeps things to himself because he's Helios. He might do so in this thread or something though. ))

N-No...[With a sigh, Giles settles back into his chair.] Not particularly, no. From a certain turn of view, I've slept for a week. Why would I want to sleep any more?

...that doesn't explain what you're doing up and about this late, of course.

[ Helios will...take a seat across from Giles. ] I d-don't know. I'm not sure, it certainly is enough sleep for any person. It doesn't...it doesn't feel like a week. I-I didn't think so anyway.

[ It's Helios' turn to sigh rubbing the back of his neck as he leans back into his chair. ] With everything that's happened recently...I just, couldn't sleep I suppose. I think far too much for my own good, this is result unfortunately.

It didn't to me. Depending on the hour, it felt like...well, it felt like anywhere from a second to several years.

A lot has happened recently. A lot has happened today. A little insomnia is, well, perfectly understandable.

I could probably fix up some tea that would change that, but I'm not sure you're quite that desperate yet.

Seconds, years, or both. I'm not entirely sure myself. [ Helios will just chuckle rubbing his eyes with a forefinger and thumb. ] I can't believe we're actually discussing this. Just another thing we have under our belts though, hm?

[ It's a wry smirk almost sad but more or less it comes out tired looking. It's not a tired smirk felt through insomnia but...through other things, war, being trapped here, all of the hardship and pain. But it leaves just as fast as it appears now, now that everything is slowly getting back to normal Helios can finally genuinely smile for once. ]

I think I am that desperate actually. Nothing else seems to being working... [ A pause. ] Can never say no to tea either.

...we both got better. We'll all get better. [He nods and gets up from the chair, making to head towards the kitchen.]

You're in capable hands, Helios. I think I can fix you up.

We will...it just takes time. [ He'll watch before moving to get up but stops himself before he does so. Helios makes an almost hurt looking face. You wound him Giles, wound! ]

I never once doubted your abilities, Giles.

I should hope not. The first thing I did when I got back was make myself tea.

And your face will freeze that way if you don't stop it.

Well tea is good for calming the nerves, I can't blame you. Absolutely parched when...you know, come back. [ Along with hungry. Helios chuckles. ]

I always thought that was an old wives tale. [ But fine he'll just...sit back and not frown then. ]

Precisely. Calming the nerves. Nice bit of, of normalcy. Especially Okita-san's tea.

Old wives tales are something you quickly learn to pay attention to on a Hellmouth. And even off it, honestly. Old wives became old wives for a reason.

Very true. Although I have seen a few cases of people's faces being stuck in certain positions. Mm more magical error than anything else. But careful and cautious is sometimes the way to be. Always look before you leap and all that.

[ Absentminded as ever Helios. Never live it down. He'll get up and follow Giles. Derpy derp. ] Oh! Right, yes, my apologies.

[He can't help but laugh, at that, although he tries not to.] That's...actually quite horrible, isn't it? Sorry. I just...didn't expect you to actually say that. I know that I should know better by now. [Blame the lack of sleep. Giles will lead the way out into the kitchen.]

Oh, well yes, especially the expression they had on. [ Helios might snort at the memory. ]

They were fixed right away though. You definitely should, anything can happen can't it? Well, in our worlds at any rate. [ Helios might be smiling a bit too widely at it too. First year magic users, very amusing to watch them when he visited the Council. ] Though I can't say I'm much better. Blowing up my room and all.

[ There is theatrical relieved sigh from Helios. ] Oh, thank goodness. I'm glad you're the forgiving sort.

You're in good company, at least. Remember that I once took out the back wall of my bedroom. [Holding open the apartment door for you, Helios.] And I'm very much the forgiving sort. When did I ever give you reason to think otherwise?

Yes you did, didn't you? But those were extreme circumstances. You got turned into a dragon. I blew out the windows when I was turned into one. These apartments are just not dragon friendly. [ Thoughtful pause. ]

Should try remedying that. A spacial distortion spell would work...why the ring uses one for the larger mythica.

[ Don't mind him rambling. This is so totally going to be another project when he can actually read symbols again. He'll stop and blink at that question. Walking through the door and to the kitchen now, yep. ]

You-you didn't! I just... [ let you die. Couldn't save you. He's too hard on himself when it comes to people he's close with. Because of Elise he can't forgive himself for that and he certainly can't ask for forgiveness. Even if the situation was out of his hands, even if Giles did it of his own volition; he still...failed to protect someone close to him again. In the back of his mind he is worried that Giles won't forgive him. Irrational and totally not true but after everything he's been through how can he not fear it? But it's also himself he can't bring to forgive. Helios will just laugh. ] Never mind I was joking, you know.

[Giles lets a few seconds of silence go past, staring fixedly at Helios, trying to guess what new horrors are going through his friend's mind. Then he sighs, shakes his head, and closes the door.]

I should hope you were. [He'll lead the way down the hall to the kitchen.]

...fine. I'll say it again, just in case you're doubting me.

You're forgiven, Helios. [For whatever the hell you're tearing yourself up over this time.]

[ These aren't new horrors Giles. They're just really big hang-ups. There's a fine line and not so prominent difference, but there is one. ] I was, I was.

[ Just a sigh. ] I wasn't doubting you.

No wonder you're not sleeping.

[Said with no small amount of concern, even as Giles busies himself looking through the kitchen cabinets for some tea. Aha!

He pulls out two boxes of tea leaves and passes them back to Helios.] I would recommend Jasmine...[In a fit of absentmindedness, however, what he actually passes over is the Gyokuro tea.]...or maybe the Gyokuro. [Which means that what gets passed over next is the Jasmine.]

I can use either one. [Even though this is a very delicate operation, of course.]

Can you really blame me, Giles?

[ He would notice that if it weren't for this damn death penalty. Helios will weigh the two in his hands. Eying each one with deep thought. This would be easier if he could read labels. So he'll hand over the Gyokuro thinking it's Jasmine because, you know, that's what Giles said it was. ] Jasmine sounds wonderful.

...no, of course not.

It's been a horrible month for all three of us.

[Giles takes the box and opens it to pull out some tea leaves.] But it will get better.

[Then he just...stares, shakes his head, closes the box, sets it aside, and takes the other from Helios' hand.]

Lose my own head, next...

I'm sorry, Helios, I shouldn't...I shouldn't keep badgering you like this. Not after putting you through everything that I have.

Who is he to question a bit of strangeness on his friend's part? They're all still owed a bit of strangeness. Giles will just start going through the motions to make tea, now, looking deeply sheepish.]

It always does, doesn't it? [ Helios will just blink. Oh, whoops, wrong box. Well at least Giles didn't ask. ]

You, you don't have to apologize Giles. I-I know it wasn't, it was out of your control. [ Helios will lean against the counter just watching the floor. ]

I...I yelled at Robert. [ His shoulders hunch a little as he speaks those words. He hasn't spoken to Robert since then either. ] I said such...mean things to him and when he was in that state. I-I didn't mean to. I was so angry at myself that I just...I just- [ He goes silent. And the silence that follows is prolonged and prominent. ]

[He was about to, probably at least, but the admission from Helios stops him cold. Giles freezes in place for a few seconds, the kettle hovering just a few inches over the stove.

Then he sets it down, the clink of metal on metal suddenly very loud in the silence between them.]

...are you planning to apologize?

[ Helios might flinch at that clink of metal. ]

O-Of course I am. I feel horrible. I didn't mean to. [ Or maybe he did at the time. He doesn't know. ]
