ϡ - Appointments Post

This post here is for personal conversations which should happen but one or both of us doesn't want to put up a new post/log and thus we will just thread it out here. This can be used to thread with Helios anytime and anywhere. This can either be in person (with action), or via the journal's call feature (voice and/or written).

I don't really have much power of my own. Or, well, any, really. So I...

...but I do understand. As long as you understand that you aren't any less without your powers.

And I have plenty to repay you for, Helios. But this isn't some, some grand gesture to balance the scales. Not this time. It's offering my assistance because I was in a similar situation for well over a month and I remember how it drove me up a wall.

Simple as that. [He picks up the mug and sniffs it curiously, before nodding in satisfaction and turning back to the counter.]

Yes, three minutes was right.

Of course. Everyone is different, everyone affects one another in a different sort of way as well. Powers or no. I don't use my magic very much as it is, to be honest. I suppose that comes with having a school filled with normal human students who aren't exactly knowledgeable that magic exists. But I do understand. After all in a place like this...sometimes even powers aren't enough. [ Helios will look at the floor and then back at Giles. ]

No you don't. I...don't want you to feel like you need to repay me for anything, Giles. Friends tend to do crazy things for one another, don't they?

[ Helios will look over a certain light flickering in his eyes. ] It smells delicious. I haven't had Jasmine tea in what feels like ages.

They do, yes. The pair of us are, well, living proof of that.

...I'm just, um, not used to having friends. Not, not like you and Frederic. So you'll have to forgive me if I...stumble, at points.

[He holds up a hand, hiding a smile at Helios' pronouncement.] Hold on. It's not quite done. The goal is to get you to sleep, yes?

I need to add a few things first.

I-I understand. Between you and me, you and Frederic are the closest people I have and not just here. Because, well, back home...back home there's- [ a lot of people that despise and hate him but that's not the point. ]

There is Varron and...that's about it. Of course there's Ra and all of the other mythica too but, but they're obviously different from what we have.

[ But that makes him even more curious. ] Yes that was the main goal of this endeavor. What are you going to add, exactly?

I would like to meet Varron someday. He sounds like a very good man.

[Giles doesn't respond to the question. He shows, instead, with movements as quick and deft as a strange little dance.

A splash of milk gets added into the still warm kettle for about thirty seconds before being mixed in. Then some clove honey from the cabinet. Then about half a different dashes of different leaves from different boxes of tea. Then some brown sugar. All is carefully stirred.

Then, and only then, does he pass the mug over to Helios.]

I would advise going back to your room before you drink it. I've been told that it hits like a train.

[And it will. This mix was made up in an attempt to keep Faith quiet through a night, and while Giles has toned the mix down several degrees, it should still be enough to put Helios out.]

You might one day. Given this place and all.

[ Helios watches as Giles prepares it. It'd be easier to remember if he could read what teas were used. But making mental notes of what the boxes look like helps.

Helios takes the mug with a bemused look when Giles finishes. ] That powerful, oh my. Dare I ask why this concoction came into creation, or is that stone best left unturned? [ He'll swirl the liquid in his mug, looking at it all the while, with a smirk. ]

You should try making it for Frederic one of these days. He's...been having trouble sleeping too. I think he'd appreciate it. But thank you, Giles.

Faith. Slayers are, well, naturally nocturnal people, and while we were traveling together her dreams were...did you know that Slayers could have prophetic dreams? Given the circumstances, I'm amazed they weren't worse than they were.

...I should, you're right. Helios, he looks awful.

Prophetic dreams? You never mentioned that, no. They're like seers or just in dreams they can only predict the future? [ That is rather fascinating to him.

But his expression changes to something more somber. ]

He does. He...he's being have these nightmares. And, and I'm not sure what to do. I asked him to go visit Paprika. [ They're all in a serious need to go visit her. ] With everything that's happened and his own problems before Luceti...I am worried about him.

Just in dreams. It's not consistent or predictable, but Buffy in particular has shown an ability to predict the arrival of serious troubles before they arrive.

However, the power cap has had the proportionate effects on her dreams, or so she's told me.

[Giles was about to leave the kitchen, maybe lead Helios back to the apartment. That stops him dead, however.]

...visiting Paprika is, um, generally adviseable, under these circumstances.

...I'll help however I can until we can talk him round.

I see. It might be a good thing not to have, in all honesty. Given what happens here.

[ Helios will have been following Giles only to stop when he does. He almost ran into you Giles, derp. ]

Y-Yes. I think we should try to talk to him at, at least until Paprika gets involved.

She certainly seems to prefer it this way.

[...fine. Back to the apartment, then. Quiet as church mice.]

Between the two of us...well, between the two of us and this, at least...[He holds up the mug.]...it should help.

[He doesn't sound terribly hopeful, though. It's hard to sound hopeful about anything very much, after the month the two of them have had.]

I can't say I don't blame her.

[ Helios holds up his own in conjunction with Giles' motion. ] It will.

[ Helios on the other hand tries to. Even if he knows in the back of his mind it might not. But right now? Right now it will even if it's only for a few brief minutes. ]

If it helps, I can point out to him that I spoke with Paprika earlier today and she was her usual, unflappable self.

Ah she was, was she? [ Helios might have a slight smile on his lips. ] Well having someone like that here is helpful, given her line of work and the general nature of this place. But I think that will definately be a good idea.

I think it will. Especially if he isn't sleeping. Or if you're not sleeping. And we've established that I'm not.

...I hate to think how we'll manage when she's sent home.

[ Just a shiver which is quite odd for someone who can't feel cold. ] rather not think about it to be honest. But we will manage if it ever becomes the case. I-I mean I did go to school for psychology before...before reopening the Academy. I'm not sure how much of it really stayed. I'm not as practiced as her naturally.

[ A bit more quietly. ] There has to be someone else. Maybe there will be someone else to at least help Paprika. But for now we should work on helping one another try to get better after everything that's happened.

Did you? I didn't know that. [Opening the door of the apartment, now.]

...if there is someone else, they've never come forward. And we can't exactly ask them to.

We managed before Paprika came to the village. We'll be able to manage when she lives, no matter how much we don't like it.

It wasn't really for me I guess. But I did. [ Still following and Helios might have been sipping at that tea you prepared Giles. Which was probably a bad idea because he is starting to feel the effects. ]

No we can't...can't place a burden like that on someone. But will, and did manage we're all rather good at managing. Even if, as you put it, we don't like it.

Then who was it for?

...if you don't mind my asking, that is.

[Oh god, Helios, why you do this. Giles looks slightly askance when he notices Helios drinking the knock-out tea...then he sighs and shakes his head.]

Ah, yes.

How about we just...stop off at your room, then.

People as, as a whole. I figured if I could somehow bridge the gap...get people to understand through psychology that magic and myths were actually real I'd be helping the two communities. People just thought I was crazy though. [ Helios will laugh. ] Rightfully so. I didn't exactly have proof at the time. Mythica are far too paranoid to really show themselves to people. My efforts got many a laugh out of the scientific community. So, I tried a different approach, and that's where the academy came in! I would like to go back and show them I wasn't joking, or that I'm not crazy, but it could threaten everything I...we, worked for. A little self-fulfillment and revenge isn't worth that.

[ Helios sighs shaking his head. This tea is strong. He probably shouldn't have sipped it while walking. He uses his free hand to cover an unsuccessfully stifled, yawn. ]

Yes, right. I...think that's best.

...so you did take that path for yourself, at least. Even if other people, other parts of your life, were...were the reason for it.

That's important, Helios. It...makes it mean a great deal more.

[Suspicious sideways glance at that yawn, Helios...followed by a faint smile.]

At least...well, at least one of us won't have any more difficulty sleeping tonight.

A great deal more? I'm not so sure. Not many people find it to be. But, ah, I guess it doesn't have to mean much to anyone besides yourself. It doesn't even have to be known to the people you're trying to do it for really. But I think the end result is all that matters. It means more than it just being for yourself at the very least.

[ Helios will blink removing his hand with an apologetic smile. ]

I'm sorry Giles. You weren't lying about this tea. It's rather good though. [ So tired, have another half yawn. He doesn't mean to be rude, oh my goodness, he shouldn't have drank some while walking. ]

I'm glad you like it. I'd still prefer not to have to dose you up with it ever again.

...sleep well, Helios. Tomorrow, things will start getting better. I promise.

Oh trust me, Giles. If this is the reason behind it? I rather you never have to either.

[ A yawn with a nod as he stops in front of his door. A hand going to the handle before pausing as he looks back at Giles. There might be a small, sad, smile on his face. ] Tomorrow, yes, tomorrow everything will get better.

Of course it will. And we won't be around to enjoy it if we don't start getting some rest, the three of us.

[With a small wave, Giles will turn to go back to his room.

He won't be doing any sleeping tonight, but at least he has his books and his journal for company.]
