ϡ - Chapter FortySix; Even the rain can't keep away the sweets [action|voice|video]

[ The light rain in the enclosure does not stop Helios today. He's feeling rather happy and in a mood to share the wonderful change to the outside of House 44. Who knows, maybe someone else would like to do it as well, it's only fair to make people aware of the changes allowed. So the video feed with kick on with Helios smiling happily and a rather gorgeous looking castle in the background. ] I'm happy to say that the shift acquired to t-turn one of the houses here has worked quite well so far. I wasn't sure if anyone was into this sort of thing but, ah, it's a nice reminder of home. I just wanted to show people that we can actually change the outward appearances of the houses here. The inside still remains the same however, but it's an improvement I think.

[ And with that happy note he'll close the video feed and continue on his way into town. So any passerby who is around town will note the stand he’s put up covered with delectable sweets and treats. It’s mainly for the new feathers but anyone is welcome to stop by and have some. People are free to stay in the surprisingly dry bubble around said stand when the rain is especially hard. ]

So it seems like new feather arrivals are upon us once more. It’s very nice to meet you all. I-I hope you get situated relatively quickly. It can be a bit daunting, I know, but if there’s anything you need help with don’t hesitate to ask around. Everyone here is very friendly and rather open when it comes to helping out. If you’re in the village this afternoon I’ve setup a stand with, ah, some sweets should anyone want some. There’s no need to be shy either! These are for everyone, old and new, so stop on by if you’re hungry or just need something sweet.

[ Helios is very chipper and it’s clear that he’s open towards anyone taking the baked goods he’s offering. ]

As for more serious business, I’d like to make an announcement to the village as a whole. Last year we had something known as the Cultural Fair in Luceti, wherein people setup stands and booths that displayed and portrayed parts of their home worlds. It can be whatever you want to show; whether it’s food, games, or even pictorial representations of indigenous species in your world. Anything and everything is allowed ah, well, as long as it’s safe and not t-too terribly messy of course! The fair is going to occur in June fifth. There are posters around town if you haven’t already seen them which also advertise the fair as well. If you have any questions I-I’m open towards talking about it. Or, ah, if you attend the school Professor Raine or Professor Layton can help you with any questions you have as well.

[ And then he’ll pause again before humming slightly as he collects his thoughts. ]

Ah yes! There is one more thing. The magic club which was run previously by Harry Dresden has been absent of late. I-I do want to continue the various projects and meetings if anyone from the prior club still wished to partake in such activities. I-I think coming together and pooling our skills collectively could really turn up some…interesting ideas and prospective projects to help the village along. Perhaps we could have another meeting a week or so after the cultural fair to discuss some things in more detail. I-I would just like people to respond if-if you’re still interested in, ah, learning or doing anything with the club in general. [Yes well, speaking of said castle, it's... quite exotic as far as certain disowned samurai guests are concerned. Though her first arrival was very shy and withdrawn and still a bit shell-shocked over the strange nature of this chaotic village, Makie has been here long enough now to at least find a measure of stability... along with the weary acceptance that she hadn't actually just been dreaming.

These castle walls are so thick and sturdy-- nothing like home. Today, she's exploring it just a little, careful not to enter into anyone's personal rooms-- but that doesn't mean she won't run into the castle's more permanent occupants in other places.]

[ Helios is just returning from a successful day of handing out homemade baked good when he happens upon Makie wandering around the house. He has seen here before and he's not sure if she's a friend on Saori's or someone else in the house. So, well, introductions should be made right? ]

Ah. Good evening! You must be one of the new residents, hm?

A Cultural Fair? This... reminds me that the Wind Festival held in Agkelos would have been celebrated soon I believe. A friend of mine suggested that it should become a 'birthday' of sorts for me in fact.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how I would share this with Luceti, as my people are the ones who would set it up in the first place. Not only that but it seems rather strange to start a birthday celebration yourself... at least from what I have learned about birthdays.

It does not matter. I am sure I will find something of interest during this fair of yours regardless.

Yes that's right! We had one last year and it was very successful. But your birthday is soon? Ah, you should have said something sooner Eleytheria! Perhaps you could do both? The wind festival...what does it entail?

[ Don't mention birthdays to Helios, Eley. He will make a big to-do about it just you wait. ]

Everyone should be able to celebrate their birthdays, regardless of where they're from!

That's a total improvement! I've gotta get my house to look like a castle. Or maybe something more scifi! [Clearly Rogue and Logan will agree.]

And... sweets, you say?

I'm glad you think so. I was a bit worried about how Saori and the other's would react. I-I'm just used to living in one I suppose. It didn't take too many mission points actually. Around eighty or so if I'm remembering correctly.

[ Helios makes a pleased noise on his end. ]

And yes that's right! Cookies, brownies, a cake or two and some pie. I-I made the selection a bit varied. Just to be on the safe side of course.

I'd like to be involved with the magic club. [And for this, she appears over the feed as Mercury rather than her human form.] I was, a little bit, before, too.

Wonderful! I'm glad to hear that people are still interested in coming to it. I-I know it's been on a bit of a hiatus, but Harry Dresden did leave and I...I wasn't sure if it would be right to-to take it over. But I-I think he would have wanted this, for the good of the enclosure, if nothing else.

There's actually a club for people who use magic? Wow. [Well, Jason had said anyone could learn it.]

Yes that's correct! A friend of mine created it some time ago, but he's since left the village, sent home back to his own world. I-I think reestablishing the club would be beneficial.

[ He pauses at the unfamiliar voice. ]

If you're interested in joining it's no trouble. There's lots of people who have varying levels of magical talent and skills.

So what's the story with the magic club?

[She's still studying some of his world's stuff whenever she can, but.]

Story? Oh! Um. It-it used to be run by a man named Harry Dresden but he's since left the enclosure. I-I didn't want his ideas or anyone else's to go to waste so...

[ He thought it might be nice to reopen the prospect of having the magic club meet again. ]

You're certainly welcome to drop by when the meeting is. You're rather capable of learning magic s-so you might even enjoy it! But, ah, only if you wanted to of course.

[Sometime after school, Raine will stop by the stand. It's a neat shelter from the weather, after all.]

[ Helios will give Raine a slight wave, smiling in greeting. ]

Oh it's goin very well. I think there's a few new prospective members for the magic club and, ah, giving away sweets is always nice.

I was not in the prior club but I am always interested in discussing magics.

Well I wouldn't mind having new people in the bunch either. I'm glad you've expressed some interest. There's discussions as well as planning for personal and group projects. If you think you'd like that sort of thing, then by all means stop by! New people are always welcome.

[Mention sweets, and Jeb will show up like clockwork. It helps that Jeb thinks Helios is a kind man.

And so, the boy approaches with a smile on his face.]

[ Ah that is a familiar face that Helios has shared quite a bit with. Jeb was a nice young man and Helios will return the wave with just as much cordiality. ]

Jeb! Good afternoon. How have you been?

[When Helios gets back, he might just find that the floor of his bedroom has been taken over by a large map which Max is painstakingly colouring, several books of history and a few large sheets of paper with pictures and an attempt at neat writing.

Max rolls over and grins when he gets back though.]

Hey. I hope you saved me some sweets. I kind of lost track of time.

[ Helios pauses in the doorway careful to not disrupt Max's work. He'll smile wryly as he watches the other man, two dragons sitting in the corner will be curiously watching as well. Luminair will chirp happily at Helios and at Max, tail wagging ecstatically behind him. You said the 's' word Max. ]

Oh! Of course I did. I've made plenty as it were. You look like you've been busy. What's all this?

[You know, it's been a little while since she last visited House 44 (at least, she thinks so). She should go see everyone!

So off she sets, and eventually she ends up at her destination. She then knocks on the front door and stands back to wait.

...Castle? What castle?]

[ Helios will open the door after a good haul of selling baked goods this afternoon. The house might smell like a very good meal being prepared. Grune will be greeted with two happy little dragons chirping and wagging their tails in unison with one another. Helios looks quite chipper and happy when he sees who it is in his doorway. His smile broadens and he gives a happy laugh. ]

Grune! It's been awhile hasn't it? How have you been?

[voice]

Do we wanna serve tea at this fair thing? We could pick a world, I guess, but there's tea in almost every world anyway.

[voice]

Mm tea would be lovely, Sheena. A blend of flavors that reminds us most of each of our worlds would be nice...

[ He gives a light pause before continuing. ]

Of course we could always just, ah, do something more simple. There are traditional tea ceremonies in my own world. Perhaps doing something like that would be nice as well.

[Well, a fellow teacher deserves a response. Moiraine's the new one on the job, and...well...very interested in magic.]

Good day, Master Helios. May I ask what the purpose of the Magic Club is? What do you do?

[ The master title makes Helios pause, he almost looks taken aback actually. He knows Moiraine from working with her in the school so he smiles readily. ]

Oh! Please, just call me Helios. As for that club it's based around people's magical projects that they wish to partake in. Projects that they can't complete on their own and need a magical helping hand.

A cultural fair? It seems I have indeed missed quite a few things since my departure.

[ Helios huffs a laugh on his end, his head shaking with a smile that tugs at the corner of his lips. ]

Yes you have. But it's nothing too major, it was a big hit last year thankfully. But it's basically as it sounds. People set-up stands that portray and discuss a part of their world. It can be food, geography, history, music, literature, magic and everything else! There's really no limit on what you can advertise.

Magic club?

[This just peeked his interest more than anything in this place.]

[ Helios sounds a bit startled by that voice. It is oh-so-familiar to him. The name is escaping him as he pieces together a reply. ]

Yes! That's right. It was a club designed for magic users to come together and work on projects together with one another. Everyone and anyone is allowed to join too.

[ He pauses once more to think. ] I'm sorry but...have we spoken before? Your voice sounds...like someone I used to know. It-it actually like Naoki if I'm not mistaken.

A castle. That's quite impressive; is it something similar to what you've got from home?

Mm yes that's correct. Back home my family owns a castle and I'm the current caregiver. I-I use it as a school actually. This...just makes this place feel more normal I suppose. But I wanted everyone to, um, see it just so they know it's possible. Sometimes homesickness can be a bit much to deal with. This might actually h-help some people get over theirs.

Luceti technically doesn't, didn't, not since Harry left. I-I figured reopening it could-could be beneficial in the long run. There's no shortage of mages here s-so we might as well get everyone on board who wants to help. Pooling our collective knowledge might yield something fantastic, don't you think?
