ϡ - Chapter FortySix; Even the rain can't keep away the sweets [action|voice|video]

[ The light rain in the enclosure does not stop Helios today. He's feeling rather happy and in a mood to share the wonderful change to the outside of House 44. Who knows, maybe someone else would like to do it as well, it's only fair to make people aware of the changes allowed. So the video feed with kick on with Helios smiling happily and a rather gorgeous looking castle in the background. ] I'm happy to say that the shift acquired to t-turn one of the houses here has worked quite well so far. I wasn't sure if anyone was into this sort of thing but, ah, it's a nice reminder of home. I just wanted to show people that we can actually change the outward appearances of the houses here. The inside still remains the same however, but it's an improvement I think.

[ And with that happy note he'll close the video feed and continue on his way into town. So any passerby who is around town will note the stand he’s put up covered with delectable sweets and treats. It’s mainly for the new feathers but anyone is welcome to stop by and have some. People are free to stay in the surprisingly dry bubble around said stand when the rain is especially hard. ]

So it seems like new feather arrivals are upon us once more. It’s very nice to meet you all. I-I hope you get situated relatively quickly. It can be a bit daunting, I know, but if there’s anything you need help with don’t hesitate to ask around. Everyone here is very friendly and rather open when it comes to helping out. If you’re in the village this afternoon I’ve setup a stand with, ah, some sweets should anyone want some. There’s no need to be shy either! These are for everyone, old and new, so stop on by if you’re hungry or just need something sweet.

[ Helios is very chipper and it’s clear that he’s open towards anyone taking the baked goods he’s offering. ]

As for more serious business, I’d like to make an announcement to the village as a whole. Last year we had something known as the Cultural Fair in Luceti, wherein people setup stands and booths that displayed and portrayed parts of their home worlds. It can be whatever you want to show; whether it’s food, games, or even pictorial representations of indigenous species in your world. Anything and everything is allowed ah, well, as long as it’s safe and not t-too terribly messy of course! The fair is going to occur in June fifth. There are posters around town if you haven’t already seen them which also advertise the fair as well. If you have any questions I-I’m open towards talking about it. Or, ah, if you attend the school Professor Raine or Professor Layton can help you with any questions you have as well.

[ And then he’ll pause again before humming slightly as he collects his thoughts. ]

Ah yes! There is one more thing. The magic club which was run previously by Harry Dresden has been absent of late. I-I do want to continue the various projects and meetings if anyone from the prior club still wished to partake in such activities. I-I think coming together and pooling our skills collectively could really turn up some…interesting ideas and prospective projects to help the village along. Perhaps we could have another meeting a week or so after the cultural fair to discuss some things in more detail. I-I would just like people to respond if-if you’re still interested in, ah, learning or doing anything with the club in general. Thank you for your time and-and as always I hope everyone has a very nice day.

A Cultural Fair? This... reminds me that the Wind Festival held in Agkelos would have been celebrated soon I believe. A friend of mine suggested that it should become a 'birthday' of sorts for me in fact.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how I would share this with Luceti, as my people are the ones who would set it up in the first place. Not only that but it seems rather strange to start a birthday celebration yourself... at least from what I have learned about birthdays.

It does not matter. I am sure I will find something of interest during this fair of yours regardless.

Ah... it is not something I had thought to mention here until now. My people are the ones who celebrate my presence after all. I simply continue. Time is irrelevant to me.

[Still he wouldn't say no to someone celebrating his technically 'first' birthday. He wouldn't impose either however.]

Prior to the festival, the city would be decorated with flags and pinwheels. Much like this fair, stalls would be set up across the city for people to sell wares, food and craft. Kites are especially popular. A competition is often held for the best one and my people spend many hours trying to perfect their own designs. I... enjoy watching them myself.

On a more personal level, many people will make wishes on this day and tie banners to tree branches or monuments in the hope that the wind will carry these messages to me. Some will offer gifts at my temple as well.

It saddens me that there are many wishes I cannot grant. However, I do my best for those who have stood by me for the past year.

Hmm, I do not believe I have heard about the spirits of your own world. Perhaps you could tell me more. I cannot say I have always been celebrated in this way however. There was a time when I am sure I was more feared than praised. I wonder sometimes if that is why people in the present began to shy away from me in the first place...

[Ahem but enough of that. He's certainly interested in this tree being arranged for him. It would make him feel more at home and perhaps give the people of Luceti something to turn to when troubled, even if he might not be able to do anything about it.]

Anything that reminds me of my home would help me here. I would certainly not be against this tree, if you really wish to do something for me. And if my presence alone is really enough for people to celebrate then... I am glad.

Ghosts... in my world the name refers specifically to the spirit of a creature who has died, though it is not clear whether or not they truly exist. Spirits in Aether, Spirits such as myself, are beings born from the essence of the planet at its core. At least, that is the usual definition. There have been some exceptions.

Have you ever come across any of these 'ghosts' yourself?

[You've already got his interest Helios, he certainly wouldn't mind discussing more about this!]

Yes, I would like that. I wonder... what kinds of trees can be found in Luceti?

[If they were to pick one type of tree then Eley would have to find out exactly what he has to choose from.]

Interesting. I suppose the Spirits of my own world could be called elementals themselves... I work with air and there are others who work with earth and water.

You are able to teach ghosts? I was always led to believe that they would be beings beyond reason since their parting with a physical body. Lost souls with barely any resemblance to a living human... I gathered that is why those in my world would fear their existence. I would be quite interested in meeting one of your ghosts... poltergeist or not.

[He pauses as he considers Helios' advice about the tree.]

I will ask there then. The tree most commonly used in Agkelos is known as a Moon Willow. It is a tall, pale tree with long draping branches. When in bloom, the flowers glow at night, as is the case with much of Agkelos' plant life. However, the flowers do not last long. It is around this time the Wind Festival is usually held.

...if they have traumatic deaths they are more likely to be vengeful, is that right? It... saddens me that they should feel like that while they linger.

[He never liked the brutality of mankind in the first place. Knowing that sometimes spirits were forced to linger due to the circumstances of their death wasn't something he found particularly pleasing either.

The tree on the other hand...]

I would certainly be interested in you attempting to do such a thing. Would you permit me to watch your work?

[He was still rather fascinated by magic after all!]
