folklorist | ϡ - Chapter FortySix; Even the rain can't keep away the sweets [action|voice|video]

[ The light rain in the enclosure does not stop Helios today. He's feeling rather happy and in a mood to share the wonderful change to the outside of House 44. Who knows, maybe someone else would like to do it as well, it's only fair to make people aware of the changes allowed. So the video feed with kick on with Helios smiling happily and a rather gorgeous looking castle in the background. ] I'm happy to say that the shift acquired to t-turn one of the houses here has worked quite well so far. I wasn't sure if anyone was into this sort of thing but, ah, it's a nice reminder of home. I just wanted to show people that we can actually change the outward appearances of the houses here. The inside still remains the same however, but it's an improvement I think.

[ And with that happy note he'll close the video feed and continue on his way into town. So any passerby who is around town will note the stand he’s put up covered with delectable sweets and treats. It’s mainly for the new feathers but anyone is welcome to stop by and have some. People are free to stay in the surprisingly dry bubble around said stand when the rain is especially hard. ]

So it seems like new feather arrivals are upon us once more. It’s very nice to meet you all. I-I hope you get situated relatively quickly. It can be a bit daunting, I know, but if there’s anything you need help with don’t hesitate to ask around. Everyone here is very friendly and rather open when it comes to helping out. If you’re in the village this afternoon I’ve setup a stand with, ah, some sweets should anyone want some. There’s no need to be shy either! These are for everyone, old and new, so stop on by if you’re hungry or just need something sweet.

[ Helios is very chipper and it’s clear that he’s open towards anyone taking the baked goods he’s offering. ]

As for more serious business, I’d like to make an announcement to the village as a whole. Last year we had something known as the Cultural Fair in Luceti, wherein people setup stands and booths that displayed and portrayed parts of their home worlds. It can be whatever you want to show; whether it’s food, games, or even pictorial representations of indigenous species in your world. Anything and everything is allowed ah, well, as long as it’s safe and not t-too terribly messy of course! The fair is going to occur in June fifth. There are posters around town if you haven’t already seen them which also advertise the fair as well. If you have any questions I-I’m open towards talking about it. Or, ah, if you attend the school Professor Raine or Professor Layton can help you with any questions you have as well.

[ And then he’ll pause again before humming slightly as he collects his thoughts. ]

Ah yes! There is one more thing. The magic club which was run previously by Harry Dresden has been absent of late. I-I do want to continue the various projects and meetings if anyone from the prior club still wished to partake in such activities. I-I think coming together and pooling our skills collectively could really turn up some…interesting ideas and prospective projects to help the village along. Perhaps we could have another meeting a week or so after the cultural fair to discuss some things in more detail. I-I would just like people to respond if-if you’re still interested in, ah, learning or doing anything with the club in general. Cultural fair, right. That other thing you were talking about. [Although Zatanna’s not exactly planning on setting up a booth, and she can guarantee Artemis won’t.] I’m pretty sure my world is going unrepresented there. But it sounds interesting. Are there displays of magic there?

Oh. That's a shame. It's rather fun when you get to talk about your world. But, ah, well it's all up to you to decide. No pressure to do so, this is supposed to be fun after all. It's also fun to walk around and see what people come up with. That's probably my favorite part from last year.

[ Helios has a smile in his voice as he speaks. ] As for that, there can be. It depends on what people wish to talk about but magic isn't too far a stretch. I-I know I'll be showing off some of my own world's magic.

Well, I’m still kind of settling in. [And rediscovering all the ways her world is different from the two Robin’s or anyone else’s isn’t really high on Zatanna’s list of “things I want to do in public.” That’s been a little messy.] I’ll definitely check it out, though. It does sound like fun.

[And she’s definitely interested in any forms of magic that might be on display.] Cool. Like a sneak peak of what might happen at the club meeting.

Understandable. Luceti can be a bit...difficult to get used to and-and settled into. I know I still get homesick and I've been here for three years! But stop on by if you want to. It's...something to take your mind off of things at least?

[ He knows the pains of homesickness and how bad it can get when it hits. It's not something one easily pulls out from either. But maybe getting one's mind of things for even a few hours might help. Everyone is different though, so it might not be the same for Zatanna. ]

Exactly! I think it'll be a step in the right direction. The tricky part is getting everyone to show up for the club meetings. [ He laughs at that. ]

[Another person who can use that particular plural. Zatanna’s voice turns sympathetic, because yeah, she can’t imagine it getting any easier over time.]

Yeah. But hey, you can make a little corner of your world at the fair, right? So maybe that will help too.

[He seems enthusiastic about it, anyway. And if that’s what he’s going for, hopefully it’ll work for him. Zatanna just can’t see it working for her.]

Really? Was that a problem before? I mean, I’m not really seeing an issue with the “prior obligations” bit. No offense, but this place is pretty dead.

[Coming from a teenager who doesn’t go to school and has no job.]

Yes that's correct! It is about sharing what you know and love of your own world. Of course it's not mandatory to do so, if that's not your thing.

[ He knows how frightening it can be talking in front of strangers and the like. And the fair was supposed to be fun, not anxiety inducing. ]

Ah, well, sometimes things came up in the past, like drafts and shifts, and not everyone keeps track of the journals. So it's...a bit harder to get the notices out for club meetings and the like.

Maybe next time I can see about setting something up.

[Not that Zatanna's thinking she'll be around that long; at least she hopes not. But it seems like the thing to say, since this guy seems so enthused.]

Sounds like you need to come up with a better way of getting the word out. [Maybe nothing can be done with the Malnosso decide to do whatever they please, but making sure people know when and where to meet? That can definitely happen.]

That would be wonderful! I'm sure your world would have a lot of interesting things to offer when thrown into the mix.

[ His tone is happy and encouraging at least. ]

I-I think posters would be best for now. I'm not entirely sure what else could be done that hasn't already been taken advantage of. The journals are only so useful when people listen to them or have them open. But we'll see how this next meeting goes, maybe someone will have some ideas on what to do.

Well, this may sound a little wild, but what about using magic? [Yes, she knows it's out there.] When I got here I changed my clothes, and that got a lot of attention. Maybe if you could set up a glamour or something, more people would notice it.

A glamour, hm? Care to elaborate on what you, ah, mean? I-I mean I could try different methods of making a poster I suppose. Different takes on advertising through magical means could work...

[ Though he's not entirely sure how to go about it, really. ]

An illusion that affects the senses. Altered appearance, making things invisible, changing how they feel--stuff like that.

And I'm thinking bigger than posters. I mean, what's to stop you from using the fountain to put on a show or something? Or setting up a light show in the sky? Nothing says "we're having a meeting about magic now" quite like bright neon when nobody's expecting it.

[ There's a thoughtful hum on his end as Helios contemplates this. It's not a bad idea actually, it could at least gather a lot of people's attention. ]

That could actually work! It sounds like a wonderful way to capture a lot of people's interest. Not having the club focused solely on serious matters would help too. I like this idea, I'll keep it in mind when the time finally comes to hold one of the meetings.

Well, yeah. Even superheroes like to have fun, sometimes. [Except maybe Batman, but he’s Batman.] Why shouldn't ordinary magicians?

Magicians need an outlet to release their, ah, creative nature. I suppose this would help with that.
