ϡ - Chapter ThirtyOne; Celebrating Two Years [Action|Voice] Backdated to the 9th

[ It's a nice day today isn't is Luceti? If you're wandering around the village today you'll notice one stand filled and piled high with donuts. Not just any ordinary donuts, no, these are called Gogoşi and they're a rather delicious little treat from Helios' home, Romania. Donuts without holes and filled with a sweet chocolate filling. That's not all though! There's pretzels, and some little chocolate sponge cakes filled with almond cream as well. They all line the table in no particular order and there's also hot chocolate, tea, and coffee for anyone trying to fight off the cold of the day. ]

Two years...it really doesn't feel that way. I-I suppose a lot of you having been here for longer think the same thing. But in truth we all take time and change differently. We've all been through the arrival, which might I give a warmest of welcome to all our newest! And we've seen things and watched people we care deeply about, and have experience this fascinating and more often than not slightly insufferable place with, go away just as quickly as they came. People we never even dreamed of ever meeting and people we never want to ever leave. [ He laughs a little and there might be a slight tinge of sadness within it. ]

That's not to say Luceti should be given all the credit for making such profound friendships between people here, but well, it does have a very prominent part in it. Still home is home no matter what and I'd like to think of this place as my second one if you will.

I-I also wanted to, um, give back to everyone for being here not-not just for myself but in general. Together as a village we're quite something through thick and thin, always there for one another, always trying to help when it seems like nothing could possibly get any worse. We're rather amazing when you think about it given everything that's been thrown at us and then some. [ He'll stop his sappy rambling before he gets all emotional, okay? ]

S-So if you're hungry or in need of a warming up I've setup a little stand in the town plaza with hot coco, tea, and coffee. Anyone is free to stop by and I do mean anyone including all you New feathers! There's plenty to go around. I've also made some, some desserts from my own home just a few little treats.

[ Because even he, being an adult and knowledgeable in traveling, still sometimes has a touch of homesickness every once in awhile. But it's not as bad or even as prominent as it used to be. Luceti really has changed that much of him, that's for certain, and he's actually rather glad for it. ]

You most certainly cannot, unfortunately. [ Celery is picked up and Helios smiles back at Ginia. ] But I think we have everything or should I pick up some more ingredients for dessert?

I suppose even I know when to step away from an argument. All right, I'll let you help me with dinner, but just this once. [She can't help the smile on her face as she grabs some herbs.] I think we can always use ingredients for dessert. At this rate, we should open up our own bakery. Not to give competition, but to stop eating all of Regal's food.

Just this once yes, yes of course. [ A sigh. Or any other times you just get back from a mission battered and bruised. ]

Our own bakery, hm? I wonder if Regal ever needs any assistance with his own. It'd be lovely to help every once in awhile. [ It couldn't hurt to ask at least. Helios will go procure some dough, baking powder, vanilla extract and other things to make delicious sweets out of off the shelves in the meantime. ]

I think...if I wasn't a headmaster sometimes I'd go and open up my own.

It's a question worth asking. Baking is so much fun. [Even if she's a self-proclaimed stress baker. But if everyone gets cookies or cake out of it, it can't be so bad, right?]

You'd have a loyal customer in me, that's for sure. Well? How about something small here?

Yes and being able to make people happy with what you produce...I certainly wouldn't mind doing it.

[ Helios laugh looking over at Ginia with a smile. ] Well you'll be the first in on opening day! [ He pauses thinking about it. ] I-I'm not sure. M-Maybe something out of the house like...a personal delivery service maybe? Order something over the journal we bake it and deliver it to you... [ huh that actually sounds rather amusing. ]

Teleportation guarantees it'll arrive extremely fresh and hot.

Assuming Giles doesn't beat me to it. [Or they could walk in together, or help Helios out with the baking, really, all sorts of options when it comes to these three.] That'd be fun. In all this weather, who wouldn't appreciate fresh cookies delivered to their door or into their house?

How about you and Giles being my assistants? [ He is totally teasing with that, totally. Or maybe not...all sorts of options with these three after all. ] People who like the cold. I'm not sure you'll find many. But, well, who knows there might some hidden among the many within Luceti's eclectic population. Still having fresh hot right out of the oven cookies is quite tempting, isn't it?

I would happily be your assistant. I'm sure Giles would readily agree. [Because he'd do anything for his bro, you know that.

She giggles, smiles.] Those poor, deranged people who can't like fresh cookies. Very tempting. It's good we all live together, I was getting spoiled by your guys' cooking.

I'm sure you both would make wonderful assistants as well. [ And then they could wear those matching aprons all the time! ]

It's fine. People do have different tastes and preference to different textures. [ But soft, warm, gooey cookies is a hard one to disagree on. Helios laughs rubbing the back of his head. ] I-I'm not really that good a cook. There's plenty of others here who are superb though. There's always room to improve, I think being around such good ones helps in that sense.

[And what wonderful matching aprons they are too.]

Nonsense, you are a great cook and I like you food. Besides, there is no one else in the village who knows how to make gogosi.

[Helios laughs lightly at that] Alright, alright. I'll take your word for it.

I'm not so sure. I can't deny telling anyone how to make them, should they ask, you know? I'd like for everyone to have at least the basic recipe. [ Because keeping it to himself is rather selfish, and he loves sharing information especially of the cultural kind. Besides...there was always the chance of him going home. ]

Maybe you should hold a baking class. A day lesson in making gogosi.

A baking class, hm? [ He grins at the prospect. ] I rather like that idea actually. Tutorial on making gogosi and perhaps other Romanian dessert dishes.

I think it would be very well-received. We have a big enough kitchen for demonstrations.

And with the new aprons we have... [ He is just...grinning like an idiot as he says that because the whole matching aprons thing is ever so amusing to him still. A joke that had gone entirely too far but it was a very good joke and he secretly approved of it. ] it'd be a shame not to put them to good use. They're rather nice after all.

[Ginia gives a small giggle. Oh, the aprons. A joke too far, perhaps, but what was a little solidarity and matching between friends? And that shade of pink would go lovely with Giles' skin tone.] They are. Shiki did a wonderful job making them. I love the pattern.

Yes they're rather delightful, really. [ Not that Helios would ever say otherwise. Still he smiles broadly at the mere thought of holding this cooking class. ] A very nice choice of pattern if I do say so myself.

It's all Shiki's doing. I gave her free reign and told her to design as she wished. [All right, so she might have had some influence with the colors and mention of "something frilly". And if the guys ever asked... well, she does have plain aprons in blue, green, and red.]

You both make a very good pair when it comes to these sorts of things. I'm afraid I'm...quite bad when it comes to all things fashionable. Never had a very good eye for it.

If I have any sort of fashion, it can be attributed to two things; research and my sister. My sister loved sewing, wonderful designer. Her and Shiki would get along quite nicely, I think.

Your sister? [ Loved. Oh, dear. Helios blinks at this perhaps recollecting some conversation they had in the past. ] Oh, yes I think you've mentioned her before! She must be very good at designing clothes, if your own skills are any indicator. You had a very good teacher then. I think...I think she would have enjoyed meeting Shiki.

She was. Brilliant, had a real eye for design and colors. She worked in the costume shop of one of the main theatre companies in Davenport. Every Christmas she'd design a new outfit for the each of us. [Ginia glances down at her current coat, a grey wool peacoat. It's a little worn around the edge of the sleeves and there's a rip or two that's been carefully sewn up, but it's a nice coat.]

She... she made this one for me.

She sounds like she was very passionate about what she did. Costume designing is probably very time consuming and involved. I'm sure they all came out lovely for the plays she worked on. [ Helios watches Ginia carefully trying not to instill anything by getting to overtly curious and asking too many questions. If it's one subject he knows that can be tricky it's certainly family. ]

It's very beautiful.

It's the Solana way. Find something you're passionate about, put your best effort into it, hold on to it and never let it go.

It's a very good way to go about things. Passion and effort always lead to success even in the smallest amounts.
