ϡ - Chapter ThirtyOne; Celebrating Two Years [Action|Voice] Backdated to the 9th

[ It's a nice day today isn't is Luceti? If you're wandering around the village today you'll notice one stand filled and piled high with donuts. Not just any ordinary donuts, no, these are called Gogoşi and they're a rather delicious little treat from Helios' home, Romania. Donuts without holes and filled with a sweet chocolate filling. That's not all though! There's pretzels, and some little chocolate sponge cakes filled with almond cream as well. They all line the table in no particular order and there's also hot chocolate, tea, and coffee for anyone trying to fight off the cold of the day. ]

Two years...it really doesn't feel that way. I-I suppose a lot of you having been here for longer think the same thing. But in truth we all take time and change differently. We've all been through the arrival, which might I give a warmest of welcome to all our newest! And we've seen things and watched people we care deeply about, and have experience this fascinating and more often than not slightly insufferable place with, go away just as quickly as they came. People we never even dreamed of ever meeting and people we never want to ever leave. [ He laughs a little and there might be a slight tinge of sadness within it. ]

That's not to say Luceti should be given all the credit for making such profound friendships between people here, but well, it does have a very prominent part in it. Still home is home no matter what and I'd like to think of this place as my second one if you will.

I-I also wanted to, um, give back to everyone for being here not-not just for myself but in general. Together as a village we're quite something through thick and thin, always there for one another, always trying to help when it seems like nothing could possibly get any worse. We're rather amazing when you think about it given everything that's been thrown at us and then some. [ He'll stop his sappy rambling before he gets all emotional, okay? ]

S-So if you're hungry or in need of a warming up I've setup a little stand in the town plaza with hot coco, tea, and coffee. Anyone is free to stop by and I do mean anyone including all you New feathers! There's plenty to go around. I've also made some, some desserts from my own home just a few little treats.

[ Because even he, being an adult and knowledgeable in traveling, still sometimes has a touch of homesickness every once in awhile. But it's not as bad or even as prominent as it used to be. Luceti really has changed that much of him, that's for certain, and he's actually rather glad for it. ]

Ah I got a bit...long winded didn't I? I-I couldn't help myself. [ He sounds embarrassed but otherwise in good spirits. ]

Cook? Ginia you just got back! I-I mean I'll certainly help if you wanted to... [ It feels odd not having Giles around to help though doesn't it? Still if he's here he will most definitely be helping despite what the dinner is for. ]

[Voice]

Long winded? Not at all. I liked it.

[A quiet laugh.] Please, I'm fine. A bit of cooking is nothing! What do you want?

[Now here's a bit of a switch--it's not often Grune is on the other side of one of these booths.

She'll check out what's being offered in a moment, but first comes the most important part:] Hello, Helios! Did you make treats for everyone in the village?

[ Just a big ol derpy smile from him for you Grune. ] Hello Grune! And yes, I did, forever in the village and there's also hot coco, tea and coffee!

[She picks up a gogoáşă and takes a bite.]

My, this is delicious!

[...It would probably mean more if she actually had a sense of taste, but.]

[Rydia heads outside the Welcome Center for a bit of a break, when she spots the stand nearby. Curious, she heads over to inspect its goods.]

Wow, Helios. You've really outdone yourself!

[ helios blinks looking up from the book he brought with him in the lulls of people walking by. ] Ah! Rydia! It was nothing really. I-I just wanted to give a little something back to the village. And with all the new feathers arriving I think they could all use a some warming up.

[ No thanks to the Malnosso dropping people off here half dressed and entirely not prepared for the weather conditions! ]

[Oh, she knows and has much ranted about such conditions. Hmph.]

Indeed, they could...and I wouldn't mind trying something myself. What's your favorite, among this?

[ well that was a lovely speech, and more than enough to encourage Glitch to get out of his big, empty house and head to the plaza. once there he looks around for familiar faces, has some cocoa, and then proceeds to fall in love with a Gogoşi.

okay maybe not in love but he's staring at his just-bitten-into pastry with something like adoration. ]

Oh, Ozma on an ostrich, this is good...

[ Helios all the while will have a big stupid derpy grin on his face at that reaction. It's always nice to see people enjoy his cooking especially when the recipe is something of a family secret! ]

I'm glad to see so many people enjoying the food! Gogosi one of my more favorite desserts.

S'hat what i's'called? [ sorry, Helios, he's asking around another mouthful. ] S'good favorite to have, lemme tell you.

[ hey wait he sorta recognizes that voice. ] Oh, hey, this is your...whole...thing! I-it's awful nice of you to set this up for folks.

[Since she is in the library anyway, it doesn't take too much effort to move to the town square. She takes a cup of coffee and glances at the deserts. They are not so different from the kind she is used to. Perhaps worlds aren't so different at all]

So what have you learned here in two years?

[ Helios blinks, looking up at that question directed towards him. He hums a little. ]

A bit of everything. Different worlds have similarly named creatures but their origins are different. Some people have come from worlds that have similar mechanics as my own and yet it's not entirely as well off as I would hope for their world to be. [ A sigh. Giles, Ginia, Frederic. There so many people who in their worlds had gone through so much... ]

I also learned that all the amazing people here have helped me and others through so many things. That it's fine to feel homesick while being here and that it's not entirely selfish to wish people who you've met here didn't go home. [ Because sometimes home isn't as well off as Luceti is. ]

I'm beginning to feel that as well.

[She takes a sip of the coffee. It is good though not as good as she's used to]

And what did you do on your own world?

[Just on his way back home, Beast can never resist that giant fang of a sweet tooth he has. Having never been at a food stand before, though, he's not sure exactly whether he's allowed to just take one or if he should say something to the man first.

But stare, stare, those look delicious.]

[ Don't worry about that Beast, because it will be Helios who will say something first. He doesn't look at all phased by the other's appearance which might be odd for Beast if he realizes it. Helios gives a cordial little wave. ] Ah hello there!

[ He makes note of the staring. No one can resist the sweets, no one! ] It's quite alright! You can take whatever you like! Th-there's plenty to go around after all!

[Action]

[He does notice the little attention to his appearance. He silently appreciates it.] H... hello.

[The invitation is all he needs so he responds with no hesitation:] Alright. [He gladly selects one of those... whatever those big round things are. Feels filling. And creamy. Examining it curiously before engulfing the entire thing.

... It is creamy... and sweet... and chocolate... heavenly! Sweet chocolate heaven! He cannot hide the pleasure he gets from this amazing chocolate-filled doughnut!]

[Voice]

[It doesn't take much to get Robert's attention when it's Helios talking.

But knowing this is the beginning of the third year for Helios in Luceti - well, that certainly grabs his attention.]

... Ah... two years...

... [Some selfish part of him hopes Helios never goes home. Not when he seems so happy here...]

... You... have made this village a better place by being here, Helios...

[Especially for him.]

... Would you like some... assistance...? At the stand...?

[Voice]

Robert. [ He has a small smile in his tone of voice at the introduction of the other. ] Y-You think so? Ah, well, I-I do try my best to do so.

[ He might look a bit embarrassed at the word's of the other. Good thing you can't see him Robert! ] Oh! Only if you want to. Only if you're not busy and have the time, naturally. Otherwise you can stop by for a little while for some hot coco or tea. Do you drink coffee? The taste never sat with me, sadly. [ Unless there's copious amounts of sugar. ]

[Well, after what happened before, it's no wonder that there's a little embarrassment here...

Still. Robert tries to keep his tone relatively steady.]

... I... have p-plenty of time, Helios... there is nothing to worry about, in that regard.

... Ah... I do drink coffee, yes... D-Don enjoys it. [It's a common beverage in the house.]

[ Madoka can't help but smile at all of this, really. ]

Ah.. Thank you so much for doing that for everyone! You're a really kind person..

[ When it comes up on his journal Helios looks back with his own smile. ]

Oh! It's nothing really. I thought it'd be nice to give back a little something to the village is all. But...thank you for saying so.

[Fresh food? Hell yeah Pao-Lin is so there. She was on her way to the Battle Dome, but when Helios put up this post, how could she pass it up? 'Sides, she'll work it all off in training.]

These are really delicious, Mr. Helios! [Says she through a mouthful of chocolate sponge cake.] What are these? I've never had them before!

[ Oh hello Pao-lin! Helios gives a cordial wave and a nod. ] They're called Amandine cakes! I'm glad you're enjoying them. They're quite addicting, aren't they?

[ And now we see where Helios' sweet tooth stems from. ]
