This can be used to thread with Helios anytime and anywhere. This can either be in person (with action), or via the journal's call feature (voice and/or written).

Soulless? [ That only makes one thing come to mind for Helios. ] He hasn't harmed anyone I hope? In his current state?

[ There's a bit of concern in his voice. Since soulless means without emotions, without morals or feelings for others. That's the soulless Helios is familiar with. But, that's because of his demonic cohorts and such. ]

Oh, no. He's just...unfeeling. Sort of cold, but still harmless. And he thanks me when I tell him that. To be sure, it's closer to what I expect from a physician.

Ah that's good. Well, I-I mean, from the alternative. S-Soulless usual means something much worse in my world. B-But you never know how the Malnosso will interpret it.

Closer to what you expect... [ Just have a slight chuckle on his end. ] Oh but not all doctors are bad! I admit they could do without the needles, though.

And the razors. Although apparently that's not done anymore. Razors and laudanum.

Oh heaven's no! They have all this...new technology and things for it nowadays. I'm not even sure myself. [ Just a sheepish laugh. ]

I guess that's why I'm not a doctor!

[There might be the sound of an oxygen compressor in the background. But you didn't hear that. Because you didn't.]

Laudanum does work, you know. For pain and the cough, at any rate.

[ But he did. He might not be able to read but he can sure hear. ]

Does it? I'm afraid I'm not one for getting sick too often. It...it had opium in it, did it not? If my sources are correct they still use it today; in America and the United Kingdom at least.

You see? We didn't do everything wrong.

Quite the contrary. [ Just a smirk on his end. ] I think it's lead to a few medical break through, actually.

What else did it lead to?

Morphine for one. Other types of pain medication as well. The names escape me at the moment. Oxycodone or something or other.

Oh, well. [You can't see it, Helios, but he's peering at his IV, through which flows sweet drugs when he presses a button.] I'm very glad for you. What year are you from?

[folklorist]

Two thousand and ten. The beginning of it, just...right after New Year's too. [ Funny it doesn't seem that long ago but he's been here a year. ]

And you? [ Though considering the laudanum statements he's figuring you're from way back. But people still use it nowadays so he's not sure. ]

Oh my. You are...almost from the same time as my good friend, Frederic Chopin. It must be a bit starling for you I'd imagine. Talking to people from the future at least. And then there's all the weird technology they have here.

[ A pause. ] These journal things...still hard to use those filters.

Someone showed me. And yes, it used to be very startling. But my sweetheart is from very nearly your time. One gets used to it.

Mm that makes sense. If it's anything that can make someone used to something, it's love. [ It's a subtle sad tone but nothing that isn't easily covered up. ]

Oh, well. [They haven't used the l-word yet, but his embarrassed yet warm reaction might give the idea that it's not too far off.] I'm not sure I would call it--but yes, I'm sure it's true.

Oh. Was that a bit presumptuous of me? [ Just a sheepish laugh. ] My apologies.

[ Though you haven't outright denied it Archie. ] It makes you do crazy things as well. Though Luceti has enough of an effect to do that as well. I'm sure the former is more wanted than the latter though.

Every world is mad in its own way. At least here, I can say "Bugger the Malnosso" and no one will come to hang me for treason.

It's what makes them unique. It would be very much the opposite. You'll have a crowd very much in agreement with that sentiment.

Yes, and that's a thing to be valued.
