ϡ - Chapter Thirty; Winter Wonderland antics [Voice|Action]

[ Good morning Luceti if you’re in town today, and probably in the surrounding areas as well, you’ll notice some large lumbering pure white figures walking about some might even be flying. No, no, they aren’t harmful in the least, although the creatures they take after might argue otherwise, and they are not yetis or other such things that come out in the thickest of snowfalls. What they however are the products of one derpy headmaster feeling the Christmas cheer thanks to the effects the Malnosso have put in place and him waking up very early in the morning after the snowfall last night to make said creatures. There will be various mythological snow creatures walking about today though none of them can make much noise or do much of anything, they’re pretty docile actually and if you wanted to you could probably even ride on top of them they won't mind, really! There will be a dragon with icicles for horns and teeth following Helios around as he makes his way into town. He’ll be there for a good portion of the day also making a majestic Griffin, and a snow unicorn. That’s not to say these are the only things that’ll be popping up. Other mythological creatures might be seen around as well. Phoenixes, mandrakes, minotaurs, kitsunes, Kodama in the more forested areas and even Nue. The list is really endless and well Helios has been having probably too much fun doing this. Some of them will be life sized, but nothing too extravagant or outlandish, lets say the tallest would be around ten or so feet tall, while others miniature. They’ll all be moving and just mulling about and you can be sure they’re movements are quite like the real things if you’ve ever encountered one.

They can be interacted with through the entire day with Helios sometimes in accompaniment. And later into the afternoon Helios will be found in the town square with his snowy dragon companion making your standard issued snowmen, each one getting their own complimentary hat, scarf, and pipe. He'll take a break and eventually pull out his journal for a short little network post. ]

Ah there's nothing like freshly fallen snow to make a good sturdy snowman out of, is there? I used to do it all the time back in Romania. I believe there was even a game that whoever had the best would have to make hot chocolate for everyone...with extra marshmallows. [ A thoughtful hum. ]

I was thinking...has Luceti ever had a snowman or ice sculpture competition? I've seen some extremely good ones around as of late. I think we could have a rather good turn out, quite the competition too, all in good fun though!

[ He may not be able to summon mythica into existence here, without the dangers of the side effects it would impose on his own world, but that doesn't mean he can't build them as an alternative! And because he just has to ask... ] Are there any creatures in your worlds that can control this element or are at least generally associated with it? Yuki-onna is one of the better known ones in mine. A tall and beautiful woman with black hair and blue lips. She's said to be quite cold, figuratively and literally, but she also has a more motherly and good side to her. The Snow Queen is another one, based on Yuki-onnas, and then there's even Jack Frost too. All are very similar in the fact that they deal with this element. And let's not forget Yetis, interesting beings yetis are. They have quite knowledge of mountaineering not that I expected any less of course.

[ He totally knows this from experience guys. Not like anyone is surprised anymore. ] I suppose Santa Claus can work too tis the season after all! I wonder if the people here had anyone like him? Ah, well, left to speculation at this point hm? I do hope everyone has a good holiday though, you can never get too into the spirit of things.

[ Albeit the Malnosso seem to fit that bill at times...but, no, he is not going to let the Malnosso ruin his Christmas not this year. Finally around later in the evening all the snow mythica will go back to being their snowy, sculptural selves, and can be found throughout the village in regal more natural poses. ]

And somehow try to mediate between people. But as for the journals...the, um, filtering I suppose. I-I never know how to do it really.

Oh! Well, I can do a better job showing you once my eyesight is back, but some people use a puzzle to code the filter. I prefer using a thirty to forty character passcode for mine. There's four I rotate through.

Oh! Yes. I think Robert told me this before...I-I just have admittedly not been practicing. [ He hums a little to himself. ]

Can you use symbols for these filter things?

I don't see why not. I think symbols would make for a stronger filter too as less people would guess them. [Still petting her new dragon bff. A good thing she can't see; she'd probably want to take him home. Even if he is a snow dragon.]

Oh really? Ha! I didn't think they'd work with them. M-Magic and technology are a bit different from one a-another. And putting them together...I-I'm not sure they should be sometimes.

[ Helios watches affectionately. And would totally be willing to take him home. ]

Maybe, maybe not, but one could make the argument we're already mixing magic and technology in this place and we're doing quite well.

[Don't think Giles would appreciate a dragon melting in the living room...]

True, true. I-I've just...seen it be used for rather bad things. N-Not that, that the people here would ever do that. But I-I suppose what the Malnosso do could be considered as such.

[ Who cares what Giles appreciates! Two against one! ]

I think in your capable hands, it'll be okay.

[It'll be the best guard for the house, right? Snow dragon! Who would mess with a snow dragon?]

[ Helios pauses and for one brief second he's almost glad Ginia can't see the look on his face. He almost forgets to answer. ] Ah! Yes of course...c-capable hands.

[ It would be! No one would dare come near them. ]

Very capable. Teleporting around, making snow mythica come to life, is there anything you can't do?

[ ... ] There's a great many things I can't do. [ Protect Elise, protect the ones he cares about. Bring her back...

That tone? That tone is sadness but masked in a thin veil of amusement. ]

I believe technology has proven more than once to be a capable foe.

[Ginia catches the tone and stops, glancing over at him, wishing she could see his expression or figure out how to proceed.]

Technology gets the best of us at times. Though, um, I've noticed there tends to be a... a trend of sorts between familiarity with magic versus familiarity with magic, with technology tends to be more on the side of those who don't use or have magic. I know in Draco's world, magic tends to do most of what modern technology can do. Muggle technology at least.

[Ramble on, full speed!]

Ah! Speaking of Draco, I invited him over for dinner sometime after Christmas. Well, him, Hermione, and Caroline.

There is a slight...barrier between the two, yes. The worldly mechanics make the rift a bit more apparent. [ He sighs a hand absentmindedly petting the unicorn which might have an inclination towards Helios' distress. It'll shake its head a silent motion which would have been followed through with a loud snort. Helios blinks looking back at Ginia and smiling. ]

Ah! That sounds wonderful! We should have more people over for dinner, what with all that space.

I wonder if there's magic in my world but I simply don't know about it...? [Ginia muses quietly, scratching the dragon at a spot right under his chin. Such a good snow dragon.]

I agree. [And they'll break it in wonderfully with Helios' birthday.]And hopefully I won't be... well... [She shrugs helplessly and gestures at her eyes.] But, um, it'd be a nice chance for all of you to talk about magic. And... ah... well... have you heard about Hermione's latest project? S.A.V.E?

That's always a possibility. I know f-for my own m-magic isn't exactly...well known. I mean a-aside between mythica and, and ourselves.

[ Helios gives her a sympathetic look, one that is obviously not conveyed but hopefully through his voice his thoughts and feelings are clear. ] I-I'm sure it'll wear off soon.

[ It has to, his optimism will not let him think otherwise.. ] I have, yes! It's a wonderfully profound thing she's doing. I hope it...works out. I-I think if we take the rights steps we can certainly implement something like it here.

I'm sure. Um... Giles said he was blind for two months? A-and that Buffy was affected by a kidnapping for six months? So... so one day. Eventually.

[It's a fact she clings onto because it's better than thinking of the alternatives. It has to wear off. It just has to.]

I agree. I promised I'd help her with it. Which is why I bring it up because... um... well... Have you met Caroline? Draco's girlfriend, she's been here for awhile.

Yes it was...difficult. [ Especially when Giles wasn't living with them, after he had died. ] She was? [ Good lord a six month kidnapping... Being reminded of his own he can't imagine going through six months of that. ] It will, don't worry. [ He gives Ginia a small smile knowing that she can't see it but, well, he does it anyway. ]

I think I spoke with her once...awhile back though.

From what Giles said. I-I don't know the details, but it's the longest lasting effect he knows of.

Yes, well, I bring all of this up because Caroline is a vampire. A very nice vampire, quite friendly. Draco, um, he thinks it'd be good for Giles to meet her.

That's even longer than a...a w-well penalty. [ Which is very odd. He might have to ask Buffy about this at some point. ]

She is, isn't she. Hm, well, it might be good for him. After all his world doesn't paint them as the most...innocent of beings. [ Especially given what one of them does to him. ] D-Do you think it'll be alright?

It is. I-I wonder if anyone's ever had... Well, a permanent effect.

She is. In her world, vampires are quite different. Just like people, but, um need blood. I think it might be good for him too. [She knows. Jenny. Angel. Giles's own fate.] as for if it'll be okay... I hope? I'm s-sure we can all be civil.

A permanent effect. [ Though the idea is a bit...scary to even consider and the shiver that runs through him is clue enough as to how he feels about it. The things they could take away or even give you... ]

The vampires within my own world are different from-from Giles' world as well. It's all a matter of a person's perspective. Will this help him change his mind about them? It's hard to say but it'll at least be a visual and proof that some aren't so bad, and that's at least something to hope for.

But yes, civil, I'm sure we all will be. There's no need for arguments or confrontations at dinner after all. [ As for being on the subject of that... ]

Indeed. A bit of understanding can go a long way.

Dinner... hopefully my eyesight is back by then, I do miss cooking. I'll have to see what kind of food they like, though I'm sure anything will do. [She laughs quietly.] I still owe you and Giles dinner.

I've always thought so, at least, that's the intent behind what-what I've been trying to do, back home I mean. [ Helios sighs almost tiredly. ]

I do wish that the people back home were as open towards things as the people here are. But everyone is different in how events and situations affect them. S-So a nice meeting might be very good for Giles in the long run. [ Helios holds up a hand and shakes his head forgetting that Ginia can't exactly see that gesture. ]

Ginia please. You really don't have to do that. I-I mean this dinner will be more than enough and I'm sure Giles will agree with me.

It's very true. Some opinions are hard to change and the person can't be faulted. All the circumstances of the world, but this place... it gives new perspective. It's nice.

I know I don't have to, but I want to. Though I suppose with the three of us living together, cooking for each other is inevitable. [She laughs quietly.] Well, you two have been doing all the cooking thus far. So it's only fair I cook for you two once my eyesight is back.

It is nice actually. New perspective, new slate to start on...it's nice. The fact that you could essentially forget everything you learned here though...it doesn't seem fair. Teaching people that not every world and not every person or being is like the ones in their own and that change is possible, it just doesn't seem fair.

[ Helios also laughs lightly shaking his head. ] You have a point. We should take turns, really, on who cooks on what days.
