ϡ - Chapter Thirty; Winter Wonderland antics [Voice|Action]

[ Good morning Luceti if you’re in town today, and probably in the surrounding areas as well, you’ll notice some large lumbering pure white figures walking about some might even be flying. No, no, they aren’t harmful in the least, although the creatures they take after might argue otherwise, and they are not yetis or other such things that come out in the thickest of snowfalls. What they however are the products of one derpy headmaster feeling the Christmas cheer thanks to the effects the Malnosso have put in place and him waking up very early in the morning after the snowfall last night to make said creatures. There will be various mythological snow creatures walking about today though none of them can make much noise or do much of anything, they’re pretty docile actually and if you wanted to you could probably even ride on top of them they won't mind, really! There will be a dragon with icicles for horns and teeth following Helios around as he makes his way into town. He’ll be there for a good portion of the day also making a majestic Griffin, and a snow unicorn. That’s not to say these are the only things that’ll be popping up. Other mythological creatures might be seen around as well. Phoenixes, mandrakes, minotaurs, kitsunes, Kodama in the more forested areas and even Nue. The list is really endless and well Helios has been having probably too much fun doing this. Some of them will be life sized, but nothing too extravagant or outlandish, lets say the tallest would be around ten or so feet tall, while others miniature. They’ll all be moving and just mulling about and you can be sure they’re movements are quite like the real things if you’ve ever encountered one.

They can be interacted with through the entire day with Helios sometimes in accompaniment. And later into the afternoon Helios will be found in the town square with his snowy dragon companion making your standard issued snowmen, each one getting their own complimentary hat, scarf, and pipe. He'll take a break and eventually pull out his journal for a short little network post. ]

Ah there's nothing like freshly fallen snow to make a good sturdy snowman out of, is there? I used to do it all the time back in Romania. I believe there was even a game that whoever had the best would have to make hot chocolate for everyone...with extra marshmallows. [ A thoughtful hum. ]

I was thinking...has Luceti ever had a snowman or ice sculpture competition? I've seen some extremely good ones around as of late. I think we could have a rather good turn out, quite the competition too, all in good fun though!

[ He may not be able to summon mythica into existence here, without the dangers of the side effects it would impose on his own world, but that doesn't mean he can't build them as an alternative! And because he just has to ask... ] Are there any creatures in your worlds that can control this element or are at least generally associated with it? Yuki-onna is one of the better known ones in mine. A tall and beautiful woman with black hair and blue lips. She's said to be quite cold, figuratively and literally, but she also has a more motherly and good side to her. The Snow Queen is another one, based on Yuki-onnas, and then there's even Jack Frost too. All are very similar in the fact that they deal with this element. And let's not forget Yetis, interesting beings yetis are. They have quite knowledge of mountaineering not that I expected any less of course.

[ He totally knows this from experience guys. Not like anyone is surprised anymore. ] I suppose Santa Claus can work too tis the season after all! I wonder if the people here had anyone like him? Ah, well, left to speculation at this point hm? I do hope everyone has a good holiday though, you can never get too into the spirit of things.

[ Albeit the Malnosso seem to fit that bill at times...but, no, he is not going to let the Malnosso ruin his Christmas not this year. Finally around later in the evening all the snow mythica will go back to being their snowy, sculptural selves, and can be found throughout the village in regal more natural poses. ]

[ Sup Robert! Helios is totally invested in making a snow Kappa right now but a brief glance up gives him insight as to where you almost ran into a snow unicorn he cooked up a few hours ago. ]

Robert! [ He'll wave and then come over smiling as he makes note of the scientist's expression. ]

[... He shouldn't be surprised. He really shouldn't be surprised.

Also, that kappa? That makes him even more curious.]

Helios...? Are you... responsible for these?

...

Are they organic...?

[ Helios nods walking over to the unicorn and giving it a gentle pat on the snout. It'll shake it's mane sending off a dusty airy cloud of snow. ]

Oh heavens no! Not at all. Unless you count snow as such. [ Just a smirk. ] Just your average run of the mill snow mythica!

[That is so surreal. Robert stares at the clearly-non-organic-but-also-clearly-not-mechanical being, watches it move with the grace of an actual organism, and feels the very foreign sense of awe at something entirely and unabashedly paranormal.]

... "Average, run-of-the-mill snow mythica".

... I... will never be able to conceive how this is either average or run-of-the-mill to you.

[He extends a hand very cautiously, as though even his touch will cause the being - it is very hard not to think of it as an organic - to disintegrate.]

[ A sheepish laugh from Helios as he rubs the back of his neck. ] It's n-not really that difficult when, when magic is involved.

[ There are much harder spells to preform on inorganic things like snow. Helios watches smiling at Robert's hesitations. ]

It's fine it won't melt or anything, you know. [ Helios gives the unicorn an affirmative pat to prove his point. ]

Magic must be... incredibly versatile...

[Robert lays his fingers very, very gently against the muzzle of the unicorn, just between the wide, sculpted nostrils. The unicorn snorts a little at the touch, an icy mist spiralling from nostrils that don't actually lead to any kind of respiratory system.]

... Dear gods, Helios. Were I not to know any better, I would... think this an actual organism.

[It's cold, but not melting, against his fingertips. Like holding the headmaster's hand.]

It is, quite actually. But ah it-it somewhat depends on the skill and power of the user. Actually that's...mostly what it depends on, imagination never hurts either. [ Helios watches a smile adorning in features. ]

Oh, please Robert. You give me far too much credit. I'm glad you think so though. I was trying to make them...as close as possible to the original things.

Well. You... certainly succeeded.

[It's visually stunning, and Robert can't help but be amazed by his friend's abilities... especially when they come out like this.]

... It must... be fascinating to be able to do this sort of thing. At will. [Robert smiles wryly.] I still cannot even make a connection with the Filial Spirits...

[~~Though his mun might allow it soon.~~]

[ Fascinating...hm. ] I suppose it, depending on who you ask. S-Some people would be quite a-afraid of this. [ Said with a hint of sadness. ]

If you want...I could try helping you contact them.

I... cannot see why. It is... incredible. And you could certainly demonstrate its properties... I know you would never harm someone deliberately, not without a very good reason.

[Robert's hand hesitates on the unicorn's snowy neck, before he glances over at the kappa again.]

... I... I would appreciate your help. I have always wanted to learn more about magic...

I-I try not to. [ Elise. And Ginia, Alice, he harmed them without a very good reason and Giles, Robert too. ] I-I'm not sure how-how well I manage that though. [ His frown is replaced with a small shaky smile. ]

And I'll gladly teach you more. Perhaps we can start learning some today if you feel up to it.

[Robert doesn't even consider those things - even if he knew about all of them (he only knows some), he would say they were firmly in the realm of experiment-induced behaviour. Not real. Not Helios.]

... I would... be delighted, Helios. With... with any luck, perhaps I will finally be able to make some sort of connection...

[At least, he hopes. ~~His mun's put it off long enough.~~]

I'm sure you'll be able to Robert. Even Nala is quite understanding when it comes to an eager and open mind. [ He gives the unicorn a small pat on the snout before returning to the kappa still froze in it's snowy, statue-like stance. Helios' eye glow as he draws a small symbol into the creature's shell which promptly dissappears into thin air. The only telling that the spell even worked is the kappa shaking itself free of the snow bounds upon the ground and looking at Helios. Helios who has a very bright smile on his face. ]

Who knows you might even get able enough to do things like this!

... I am not certain about that.

[Robert watches quietly and intently as the headmaster brings the turtle-like kappa to life, a mixture of curiosity and awe on his features. He looks up at the kappa, into the carved eyes, and feels what almost seems like curiosity in them, too.]

... What species is this...?

[He's never heard the TMNT called "kappa" before.]

Hm? Oh! They're known as kappa in my world! They're a type of imp usually found only in one other culture as something called a kelpie. They're something of troublemakers but the pranks played are innocent enough.

[ Helios turns back to Robert a smile on his face. ]

The kappa... reminds me of the Hamatos, somewhat.

[Robert steps forward again, intrigued, as the turtle-like imp gazes back at him. He can swear zie is smiling playfully at him.]

... Your world has so many "mythica" species... it is truly incredible-seeming.

[A soft smile ghosts over Robert's own features.] ... Of course, any world with... paranormal physics like yours would... indubitably be incredible for me. To be able to... utilize magic...

They do, don't they? And to think, I've only made a handful of the ones that are actually there.

[ Helios looks over at Robert. ] I think Tsinku might work rather well for you. [ A few electrical sparks dance between Helios' fingers. ] As for magic back home...I think you'd make for a very skilled, methodical, magician actually.

[Robert actually beams up at Helios.] Do you... think so? I... I mean, I suppose in a world where magic was... part of physics, it would simply be another field to study...

[He hesitates a moment.] But it is... difficult, in Luceti. At... at least for me. "Hearing" the Spirits is something that... does not seem to come easily to me...

I do actually. You would probably be even better than myself. [ Helios smiles fondly back at Robert. ]

Nonsense! If you keep at you'll finally make contact with Nala eventually. And then it gets easier once you meet her. But I'll my hardest to help in anyway possible.

Oh... I doubt that, Helios... [Quietly:] Though I always... thought you would be quite the inventor, on Terra.

[As for the rest of that...] ... I have... been trying, albeit intermittently, for months. It is just... my mind can never seem to detect the information...

An inventor? Y-you think so? [ He smiles at that. An inventor, hm. He does like making new spells and it could be applied to other things if he knew how to work any sort of technology. ]

What do you usually think about? Sometimes it helps if the inherent knowledge you hold is shown to them first. Like, ah, knowing about bones and muscles and the like for Nala. I-I did some basic research before I tried to contact her and it...it worked quite well.

Yes, I do... I think you would be very skilled, if you were knowledgeable of the technology...

[Robert muses thoughtfully a little to himself.] Well... I am certainly much... better-versed on medical techniques than I was. I am not certain if that is the problem...

... I just... have such difficulty meditating. I cannot focus...

Well I'm glad you think so. [ Helios looks honestly skeptical of this. Technology and him...just do not get along very well. But Robert saying he might be? It's almost amusing if it weren't more endearing. ]

Having trouble focusing isn't that uncommon of a problem. You just have to find a point where you can simply...drift away. Leave everything around you behind, like a zen almost, in that you're at peace for however long possible.

[ Hm. ] Off the top of your head, what is the one thing that gives you the most happiness or peace?

... Science, generally. Working on a complex mathematical problem... analysis and data extraction...

[Is Helios surprised?]

... But... how do I use that?

[ No, no Helios isn't surprised in the least. He might even be smiling a little as Robert tells him this. ]

You use it...almost like a formula, really. You think of something that gives you the greatest peace of mind, something that comforts you. You then try to use the feelings or emotions it produces to yield something akin to zen. Given that zen is technically inner peace the more you surround yourself with things that give you this the easier it should be to meld and fall into it and only then will you be able to obtain a trance like state.

At-at least that's from my experience with doing it. [ Helios looks back at Robert with a curious glance. ] Does that make sense?
