ϡ - Chapter TwentySeven; The brief interlude [voice/action] backdated to the 10th

[ It’s been awhile and with everything that’s occurred he had almost forgotten. But it’s September 10th once again. That day…that day Elise passed away and he lost the most important person to him. He’s lost a lot here, been through a lot here. But the memory doesn’t fade, doesn’t heal, and he doesn’t want it to. This is for her and everything she meant to him, everything she still is to him.

So he can’t forget and never will.
]

It’s funny. How…certain things catch up to you. I-I suppose you lose track of time in this place, hm? It’s quite easy to do so, what with no designated unit. It...makes you wonder what other people back home might be doing. Might have been doing in the interim.

Ah! And a belated welcome to all our new arrivals. It's a bit strange, isn't it? But...everyone here is welcoming enough. You'll-you'll come to find that out on your own though. I've met some...very wonderful people here. I hope you can all do the same. Luceti is a trying place at times but we help one another, and it makes things easier.

[ There’s no other transmission after that for awhile. The roomies can hear him walking, pacing actually, in his room before it stops and he opens the door. He’ll go to leave heading to the memory garden. He makes one more voice post before he places a bundle of flowers in one of the open plots. ]

I-I hope it’s not, not too much trouble. I, um, used one of the plots in the g-garden. If, it is…I can move them. [ He has a plot out in the forest anyway. And he’ll actually make his way to the edge of the town sometime later in the afternoon. He’ll return around midday and then hang around town until late at night. He’ll be outside looking up at the stars outside of CH7 humming a rather interesting song to himself. It’s actually a song she wrote for him but it’s not like anyone would know that. Maybe though, just maybe, the love in it will be conferred via his poor attempt at humming it. He also might not be speaking to anyone in particular, actually he's speaking to himself, odd isn't it? But he'll be out back by the boat laying as comfortable as his wings will allow on his back. He'll just be idly tracing the stars with one hand and one eye closed. His journal is beside him and it isn't recording he made sure of that. Still people walking by might hear someone talking to themselves.]

It's rather beautiful out here, Elise. I-I think you would enjoy it. You always were interested in the outdoors. I wish you could be here to see it. [ But it wouldn't be right for him to wish her here. He's not sure she deserves to be here...be with him. Still the idea makes him smile if even just a little bit. ]

((ooc; Pretty much you can meet Helios anywhere he's at today. Afternoon, midday, or nighttime. You don't have to label it if you don't want. Also he might be a bit preoccupied/invested in his thoughts. I suggest sneaking up on him and startling him /shot))

[You aren't alone here today, Helios. As the co-inspirator of the Memorial Garden, Robert spends a lot of time there, tending to the flowers and other flora, and making sure that everything there is kept clean, orderly and neat.

He's surprised to see Helios there, with that bundle of flowers, and it's a moment before he speaks.]

Ah... Helios?

[He's worried that someone especially important might have gone home. Robert may not be able to understand emotions very well, but seven months of knowing Helios let him at least vaguely ascertain the melancholy on his best friend's face.]

[Ginia is coming off her shift at the Welcome Center when she sees Helios outside. Treading over to him, she gives a light tap on his shoulder.

...Sorry, she doesn't ever mean to startle anyone, but walking quietly is a habit.]
shadedsunlight: (Swear to shake it up)

[Ginia smiles apologetically and waves at him. She pauses to look over the boat before turning her attention back to her friend.]

/Not at all, just came home from work.

The boat looks great./

Not a problem, Helios. I... I was just surprised to see you here.

[The scientist steps up closer to Helios, clasping the spray bottle he was carrying against his chest.]

... Did someone... go home for you, lately? [It's blunt, and maybe almost rude, but he still wants to ask.]

/I've been helping out nights at the Welcome Center. Patrols and greeting anyone who comes in.

It's very impressive, all of you should be very proud of it./

[There's small wave of her hand at him, the boat, and the sky.]

/Am I interrupting something?/

Of course it is alright. The purpose of the garden is to provide a method of memorialization for whomever you wish... please feel free to use it that way.

[He looks at the flowers gathered in Helios' hand.] ... You chose very beautiful flowers for this person, though.

[Robert smiles, nervously but genuinely.]

...Helios, putting flowers in the garden is what it's meant for. If you find an empty spot you like, by all means lay claim to it.

[Noise filters over from Giles' side, noise that suggests that he's packing up to go and meet his best friend already.]

/Have there been more people coming in in the latest cycles? And I'm sure you did your fair share of work on the boat./

[Ginia glances up at the sky. It's beautiful being away from city lights and having such a clear view of the sky.]

/It is a beautiful night for stargazing. I've been wondering what stars we're seeing up there. What with all the different worlds and everything./

[Frederic had heard the message over the journal and decided to find his friend, eventually finding him when he heard the song being hummed.]

That is a beautiful song, Helios.

...It's for anyone who isn't here that you'd like to remember.

It might have started out just for, for Vivi, but...that's what it's grown into.

["Her" favourite. Robert wonders... Who could it be? Someone from home?...

... Didn't he mention someone on Valentine's day? The memory is still as sharp as ever - and Robert does have to bite back a little pain at it - but he remembers Helios talking about his partner that he lost...]

... Yes... a very fitting tribute to someone you love.

[Is it okay if Robert holds your other hand, Helios? Just a gentle grasp, that's all... He wants to be there for his friend.]

[Frederic simply smiles and walks closer to where his friend is to join him.] Yes, everything is all right. I was just going out for a late night stroll when I heard you singing.

/I glanced at the housing lists, there's still plenty of space, but rooms are being checked off. I wonder what might happen if we reach our limit...?

/That sounds like a wonderful idea. If they can't be identified, I don't see what's wrong with making up ones for here./

[She pauses, remembering something and laughing quietly to herself.]

/I did that as a child. Made up my own constellations, came up with stories behind them./
