folklorist | ϡ - Chapter Eight; A Midsummer Night's Read

( Four days will quickly steep themselves in nights;
Four nights will quickly dream away the time;
And then the moon, like to a silver bow
New bent in heaven, shall behold the night
Of our solemnities.

A woman will be portrayed, followed by a yellow moon and glistening stars filling an otherwise blackened void of a sky. )

[ If you're in the library today you can find Helios seated at one of the tables with his face neatly plastered to a book. Rainy days are always good days to read it seems, and today is no exception! However if anyone passes by him during his re-reading of a certain play they'll see varying figures playing out their roles, and the play itself, as he reads through it. So you'll basically get a free show via his mind! Reading yet another portion of A Midsummer Night's Dream in his head will promptly be dictated to you all, via voice transmission because Helios fails and always has his journal by him or unintentionally open, and anyone walking by will see the golden text scrolling above his head, with pretty pictures of characters to boot. ]

( And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearnéd luck,
Now to escape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends ere long:
Else the Puck a liar call.
So good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends.

A figure akin to this is then portrayed. )

[ Anyone is free to comment and wonder about what the hell it is he's thinking about. ]

(Isamu?) Ah an acquaintance of yours?

[ Helios smiles looking back at the book as well. ] Mm. I always found it to be captivating. Love is ever so complicated. Puck was always one of my favorite characters. A bit of a troublemaker in this story! (And at the school as well. Do hope he isn't doing anything too bad.) [ He chuckles a little. ]

Oh yeah--he's from home. He showed up this month. []

[Naoki nods vehemently in agreement, before staring at the thought bubble. Lowering his eyes to his face, rubbing the back of his neck with a smile.]

From home? That's wonderful! You must have been excited when he came here!

[ He notices Naoki's thought bubble as well, but he merely laughs and waves it off. ]

Him and Loki are always at it; challenging each other when April fool's approaches and all that. [ He sighs, a sweat drop appearing in his own thought bubble. ] (It makes it interesting, though I wish the pranks they pulled weren't so...realistic.)

[ He grins anyway with a nod.] Um, if you ever get a chance to meet him, don't mind him too much. He can be kind of [] prickly sometimes.

[...Brb, now staring amusedly at that sweat drop. Are you an anime character, Helios?] Huh, really?

It's quite alright, Naoki. It's a bit hard not to look. (Oh dear and I can't seem to quite help myself either...) [ He has a bemused expression on his face. ] Oh? Is that so? Hm I'll keep it in mind then!

[ YES /shot ] Ah yes...especially that one time with Ra and the bathroom. (Several figures pop up one being a man with semi-longish black hair, reptilian eyes, well built and tanned skin. Though in the picture he has golden curled ram horns and a sink explodes and douses him with water leading to another image of him being very angry.)

Thanks, Helios. [And that marks the return of that little ] He's a good guy deep down, though. []

Ha--haha, poor guy. [Naoki grins amusedly at the images anyway.]

I see. You must have known him for awhile to make such astute observations. I think everyone has the chance to be- deep down.

He wasn't very happy about that, a lot of loud yelling well into the night and all that. (He's quite insufferable sometimes.)

Mm, he's been my friend for a long time. [Naoki grins.] Heh, me too. I've always liked giving people the benefit of the doubt.

[He laughs at that, leaning his elbows on the table.] Noisy, huh? Hard to deal with sometimes?

It just doesn't seem right to make assumptions right off the bat. Many people are surprisingly not what they seem.

Oh yes, quite a lot. He's a bit...raucous, uncouth, mean, and er has quite a mouth on him. (Which is something of an understatement.)

Yeah, you can't judge first off. [Grin.] Have to give people chances.

[You are getting a sympathetic look now, Helios.] Sounds like a hard guy to deal with.

But of course!

Haha. I suppose. You get used to his antics after awhile! But, he does have to put up with me as well, so it's somewhat of a mutual exchange you could say. He has helped more than enough in the past. (The images might flash really quickly to something not to nice, mainly a great serpent with fangs and a dragon with those same golden horns, attacking said snake.)

Oh dear, this is quite troublesome. [ Just frowns at that bubble trying to wave it off, but obviously it does nothing. ]

[Naoki averts his eyes politely from the bubble, but his own begins to reflect the image of a watery-looking serpent as it coils in the air, teeth bared.]

Yeah, it can be a bit of a pain with the things we don't want others to see. []

You're certainly right about that! I think that's what they were aiming for. [ He'll kindly advert his own eyes because it'd be so impolite to do otherwise. ] Aside from this though...I don't think there have been any other effects, thankfully.

[Naoki nods, running a hand through his hair.] Just a lot of things becoming known. Some rude awakenings for people here and there. []

[ Nods as well a hand going to his chin as he reclines a little in his chair.] Oh- yes, that's just dreadful. I suppose there are something people don't wish to be known, by others, at this current time. But, then this happens. It's certainly rude. Though...there are advantages as you've stated. Getting closer to people isn't such a bad thing in this place. [ He smiles, looking back at Naoki. ](A blessing maybe also sometimes be an inconvenience. It all depends on how one takes it, though.)

I'm glad that I've gotten to know the people that I have. [] And...I don't think I would've had the courage to tell people some things if they hadn't seen it in my thoughts. [He smiles briefly.]

There's so many kind people it's nice knowing that they'll missed. But you're right about that. It does take a certain amount of courage, and definately trust, for such things. Even then...there are somethings we do not wish to have other people know. (Something to which I can-there's no other words as the bubble simply becomes clouded.)

Ah- I'm probably keeping you from whatever is you were going to do!

[Naoki blinks and then smiles, rising up from his chair. ]

I was on my way to the store, just ducked in out of the rain for a little break--using Sona's magic tires me out sometimes. [He grins.] I'll leave you to your reading.

I see. Don't use too much, now. (Otherwise I might have to worry a bit!) You wouldn't want me nagging you like the old man I am! [ Just laughs. ]

Yes, we most likely will!

[You just get a fond grin for that, Helios.]

I won't--I know not to tire myself out. [He heads toward the door, waving a bit.] I'll talk to you later!

[ He'll just smile and wave back at Naoki as the other begins to leave. ] Of course! Do take care!
