ϡ - Chapter Six; the horned serpent [voice]

Raining, hm? [ There's the sound of rain pattering against the window, dulling the intermediate silence. He's thinking for a few brief moments getting his facts and thoughts sorted before beginning. ]

The Horned Serpent. A mythical being involved with rain, lightning or thunder. Some claimed it to be invisible while most referred to it as the bearer of rain that made noises similar to thunder. Taken from Native American tribes the Sioux believed the Unktehila to be a dangerous reptilian water monster that lived long ago. They were of various shapes and sizes. In the end however it is said that the Thunderbirds destroyed them, except for small species like snakes and lizards. It has varying names: Pita-skog, Sinti lapitta, Misi-kinepikw. Ah they're wonderful creatures, really. Not as extincted as everyone once believed; not as dangerous either I'll admit. The rain is so refreshing at times too.

Is there a being associated with the rain or water in anyone else's world? Since there's not much to do on rainy days, perhaps a little idle chatter could pass the time? [ Another pause, derp. ]

Oh! I almost forgot! Welcome to Luceti everyone! I know there's been quite a few new people about! The cycle just ended, I think? This place is so welcoming, isn't it? I'm sure you'll all feel right at home, or as much as possible in such a place! Though, it takes some getting used to doesn't it? A shame it's such a rainy day...there's so much to be explored in this place.

Demons? Oh I don't know about that. They don't seem to have the same air about them like demons do. Though it's quite hard to say, they're an elusive bunch.

Correct! There's quite a variety, though these are some of the more tame. [ He sounds quite chipper, actually. Even if you didn't meant to broadcast it. Whoops. ]

Mm especially in the summer, doesn't it? A lovely smell if I do say so myself. It brings back memories.

I think rainy days and sunny days both have their own perks and qualities. It depends on the person, really.

In my world there are the kappa. Water spirits. They love to play pranks and eat small children, but they can be tamed - they make very intelligent and loyal servants.

... They're mythological, of course. I'm not one.

Oh yes, yes Kappa! They're a social bunch, better at human interaction than most. [ He sighs a little at the last part about them becoming loyal servants. ] Servants...I don't condone the action really, it's not right. They're far too intelligent and well adapted for such things.

Haha mythological! Of course, but what if they were actually real?

There is not a being who associates with the rain or water unless you count toads or frogs, but it was on a day such as this that inspired me to write my Prelude in D-flat Major, Opus 28 Number 15.

Toads and frogs could work too! And maybe even...er, fish! Music always seemed to me like a wonderful way to express your feelings of any sort of even; like a journal almost only it's better than written words.

I love the rain, at least when it's warm. Cold rain is another story.

As for water beings, I immediately think of Leviathan, Lord of All Waters and King of the Eidolons. [Slightly wistful.] I do miss him.

Hmm actually no, not ever. They're very rare even in my world a shame really, they always seemed so...interesting.

Well, we do have a rain-god dragon in Japan called the Zennyo Ryuou.

Yes, yes Zennyo Ryuou, how could I have forget him- er, her. A magnificent goddess if I do say so myself. Though, Japan's mythology was always one of my favorite.

Few would be familiar with him, but there is Famfrit, the Darkening Cloud. A scion of the gods, dooming to walk the earth until time's end.

There's a water god back home, but sea serpents like the Horned Seprent are very rare these days.

Quite! Even in my world they're a rare sight to see, one would surely think it a dream to ever be in the presence of one.
