folklorist | ϡ - Chapter FiftyTwo; Let's talk about magic [action|voice]

[ Today Helios can be found in his usual haunts. He’ll take a day off from the library to practice his magic in the afternoon after school. Anyone near the edge of town of by the lake will hear and see crackles of thunder, loud bangs of fire and flashes of light erupting along the coastline of the lake itself. It’s out of the way enough that it won’t affect anyone but people can still see it from the edge of town. There’s a few targets made of clay, dirt, and mud all around the area should anyone actually venture out to see what’s going on. Each clay figure is sporting different elementally inflicted wounds. Helios himself has a worked up a good sweat at least and he’ll wipe his brow free before going to his journal. He’ll be standing in the middle of it all with a satisfied look on his face. ]

I was wondering if anyone would like to have a spar. Ah, well, a magical one that is. I-I’ve been neglecting my duties to practice for a while now, and since the weather is nice today I thought it’d be good to get some practice in. [ The Battle Dome scares him, okay? Otherwise he would have used that to train but…how does he technology? ] I’m by the lake if anyone would like to join me for a few one on one sessions. [ And here he’ll pause for a moment before continuing to talk. ]

But beside that. There’s a magic club here that I-I’ve also been neglecting, which is unfair to the members who joined it some time ago. I was wondering if anyone would like to meet, perhaps this Saturday by the beach. I’ve been meaning to get some ideas and thoughts about a certain flying ship, but I haven’t actually made much progress on my own. I-I’d really love to chat and speak with you all again, new arrivals are welcome to stop by as well. It’s pretty much open to everyone, really, there’s no limitations even if you’re not a magic user yourself. There will be food and drink as is customary for our meetings. So bring yourself and a healthy appetite!

[ Some people just like learning about it and that’s fine too. ] So I-I’ll be in touch and you can always contact me via the journals if you wish to speak in private! Thank you for your time and f-for listening. I’ll be out at the lake for a little while longer, so there’s no need to rush.

[ It helps him think out here, the peace and quiet and solitude of it all. So many things have happened recently especially at house 44. Yunna leaving this morning is the main thing in particular and Valentine’s Day was still lingering in his mind as well. He just needs a momentary break from it to clear his head. ] ]

Pikachu, hm. [ Helios' smile only widens as he straightens to look back at the young boy. ] Oh yes. I think they're rather fantastic, especially since they seem to enjoy the company of humans a good deal. Does everyone in your world have them then?

[ He's not entirely familiar with the mechanics of the pokemon world but he's sure curious to learn about it. ]

[ Oh boy, did Helios meet with the right person. ] Nearly everyone! -- But everybody should have a pokémon.

[ A matter of opinion - one that's completely correct. ] But there's wild pokémon too. You know- pokémon who don't get along with humans. But you've just got to show them you can be friends!

I wonder why come people don't have them. Perhaps it's just a preference. [ It was interesting to think about, because they seemed more like companions than pets. Helios is certainly enamored with them. ] I think my baby dragons would get along quite well with them. Though I've never actually exposed them to pokemon before. There are a myriad of species aren't there?

[ It makes sense, they seem to be that world's animals in a sense. ] Does you world have regular animals too. Like-like fish, insects, and birds? Or are they all pokemon?

Those are pokémon. [ He gives a nod as he says this. He's figured this much out while being here- ] What you call animals, we call pokémon. We've got bug pokémon, bird pokémon - and I've got a fish pokémon that's called a magikarp. We've even got dragon pokémon too! I saw one! But it got away...

[ Anyway. ] And some people don't have pokémon because... well, you've got to get one. [ He shrugs. ] Or some people might not have room for a pokémon... but it's good if you have a pokémon, 'cause they'll keep you safe! So you should take good care of your dragons. They're meant to be the strongest pokémon ever where I'm from.

Ah I see, I see. That makes sense. [ It's a strange sort of imagining but he can kind of picture it. ] Dragons are really the strongest in the world? I assume you-you have ancient pokemon as well. Gods too maybe.

[ It would be interesting to learn about those most definitely. ] Ah well. Perhaps you can bring pikachu over to my house one day and he, Luminair and Maggir can play together. [ He smiles broadly at that. ]

I'm sure Luminair and Maggir would love to make some new friends.

[ Pikachu at the time is nibbling away on the snack Helios gave him, thankfully not burnt to a crisp through shocking it. ] Uh huh, we've got legendary pokémon. They're like gods from what I've read about 'em... but dragon pokémon are really hard to find, and really hard to train I hear.

Sure! I've got two other pokémon with me too. [ Looking back to the clay models. ] Can your dragons do magic too? Like- special attacks?

Ah I see. That's fascinating that they do have such things in your world. [ Legendary pokemon huh. It sounds like it would be exciting to see one of them. ] You've never encountered any legendary pokemon, have you? [ Helios just wants to hear all about it if Red has. ]

Well they're still a bit young to awaken into their powers. But Luminair can breath fire. Well, um, little flames at least. He's the oldest of the two but he's still learning.

No. [ And that's a total bummer. ] But I'll meet some one day I'm sure! I've got to, since I'm helping someone find out about all the pokémon in the world.

Have you ever trained dragons before? I bet I could help if you wanted! I know a lot about training.

All of them? [ Oh my that is quite the undertaking. ] How many do you suppose there are, do you think? [ Because if they were like animals then there had to hundred, millions even, of them. ]

I haven't, no. But I s-suspect that we could both learn from the experience.

[ Gotta catch 'em all!! ] Uhh.... over hundreds of them. I've only seen under a hundred, but I met a girl here with a pokédex here that's bigger than mine, and it has hundreds I've never heard of on it!

Yeah, really? Yeah, it will! [ wow he can possibly help somebody train a dragon? Looking back to the clay models, and he points to them. ] We can set up training like that, then it can practice its aim!

[ oh oh, while he's near the subject- ] Hey, did you learn magic when you got here?

Gods that's rather fascinating. [ Man what he wouldn't do to visit that world. ] Do you think any of them speak human language? I-I mean they understand it perfectly well, but I wonder if there's any pokemon capable of human speech. [ He is just curious. ]

Oh, well, I'm not sure how well Luminair or Maggir will take towards training. [ He chuckles. ] But we could probably get them of come along for the fun of it. Perhaps they'll prove me wrong. [ Or not. ]

Learn here? Oh, no. I've known how to use magic well before Luceti. It's something of a...common practice in my world. Why do you ask? Are you looking to learn some yourself?

Hmm... [ Let him think. ] I don't think so... maybe a ditto could do it? They can turn into anything they see... but I don't know if they could talk human.

It's okay if they're young, right? So they probably won't get it... but maybe they'll find it fun!

Can I? It's not common where I come from! If you're lucky you can do stuff with your mind, but nobody can do magic 'cept in video games.
