ϡ - Chapter ThirtySix; The switch up [action|voice]

[ You can find Helios this week at his usual haunts. The library, tea shop, bakery and oddly enough at Cloud Nine. He might actually even have a drink or too.

He'll also be carrying around a very strange device with him as well. For all of you unawares of the latest 21st century technologies this is what we call a laptop. Helios loves his dearly and if he knows you well enough he might even let you touch her. But he's a bit clingly when it comes to his dear laptop so don't expect any free games of Spider Solitaire or what have you. HE HAS WORK TO DO. Okay, not really, but no one needs to know that. With tons of illegally downloaded material on his laptop it's hard to say that he's actually gotten bored. But two years and only having the same things to watch over and over again...well safe to say he is bored.

On one of the days he'll be found in the shops cataloging and taking inventory checking to see if anything new has cropped up or in general to see if the influx of items has changed at all. He has to keep busy somehow okay?

On Friday morning Helios will send out message to the entire village. The voice should be noticeable and clear enough. There aren't too many people with slight Romanian accents after all. And yet there's something fundamentally different about it too. No stuttering or uncertain questions. Just an underlying cordial and confident tone of voice. ] So, this is quite the strange week we're having, isn't it? People claiming others to be acting odd and all. Not really unexpected of Luceti though, I suppose calling it a shift would be proper now, given the information collected. [ Looking through the journals again...Helios has noticed some very big differences. ] Then there's the battledome. I don't know the details on that but if anyone would be so kind as to oblige me with them I'd be sincerely grateful for that. Oh, and if anyone would like a simulation created for them I'd be more than grateful to help you out with that. It's a bit finicky and I'm not sure if the controls were damaged in the process either. But there's only one way to really find out. I hope not though it really is an exquisite piece of technology...

[ He'll pause the tapping of a pen against against a desk the only sound. ] But onto something a little less business and a bit more...casual. [ All work and no play makes Helios a dull boy. ]

I've been thinking of having a game night. You know the usual. Poker, Black Jack, Solitaire, whatever ones you have in your world. Everything is welcome mind that you have the necessary materials to play it. And for the hell of it I think I'll hold a little session of Dungeons and Dragons too. [ A laugh on his end. ] But, yes, it'll be at House forty-four just behind the town square. And lets...make it for around eightish on Saturday. I think that should be suitable for everyone. You don't have to bring refreshments, we can provide, just bring yourselves your friends if you want and the insatiable appetite to vanquish demons, slay dragons- [ Oh right. Not getting into it, nope. He'll clear his throat. ] -and have fun, we'll hopefully being seeing you all on Saturday.

[Adele calls for a moment before poking her head into his room. No sense of boundaries on this woman. At all. Ever. She grins and walks over to loop her arms around his shoulders in a loose, easy hug. Yes, they were both shifted. She was more affectionate, and he didn't flinch at. Everything. She may as well take advantage.]

What is this about a party- you didn't say anything about Sabacc. I thought I'd taught you how to play that last month. Or was that Poker?

Adele! I see you've been...keeping busy. [ That little display over the journals earlier in the week was amusing. Helios doesn't flinch he doesn't even register it. At most he simply returns the hug with no cares whatsoever.

His smile widens. ] Anything is really welcome for it. I wouldn't mind playing Sabacc or Poker. Both would best, really. I'm pretty decent at Poker myself. [ Because playing any games from Star Wars that wasn't the actual card game and against actual jedis?! He'd get so many bragging rights when he went back home. Gods he loves Luceti sometimes. ]

You saw the chase on Monday. [She giggles and gives him a squeeze before just draping herself on him to peer at what he's working on at the desk. She didn't always get the technical jargon right off the bat, but she could work it out in time.]

I'll deal a few games, then. And I'm sure I can talk Ben, Ani, and Luke into coming, I know how much you'd enjoy having them there. Though I will have to make sure they don't cheat.

[Even if Robert is quite aware that their understandings of each other differ (a laptop, huh? He's not sure if he can get over that part just yet)... Helios is still his friend. No Shift is going to get in the way of spending time with him.

As for details on the Battle Dome? He'd be glad to talk about them... if it wasn't over the journals.]

I would be glad to attend... [Though there's still nervousness in his voice, it's significantly less than usual. This version of Robert actually had to learn to interact with people to a degree.]

[ Oh Robert Helios can actually get you now...if you were you. But unfortunately come Sunday that laptop and techno-awareness he has will be completely gone. Still the shift isn't going to get in the way, nope!

You can have a cheerful reply back from Helios. ] Wonderful! I was wondering if you'd come. I'd be hurt if you didn't show up for at least a little while. Though this saves me the trouble of having to drag you there myself. [ A chuckle on his end. ]

It'll be a great time I've no doubts about that! [ Especially with Adele coming, and all the betting and possible drinking shenanigans to occur... ]

I'll get you the info on the Battle Dome when I get it, Helios. No worries--the droids went there for a reason, after all. And...I figure any data we can collect will be useful in the long term.

...I'd also be interested in joining you on your game night on Friday. Is that a bunch of card games you're suggesting? I feel like I read about them somewhere...

And your Dungeons and Dragons does sound interesting. Count me in.

Yes I know. I just get...excited when there's some new development here. It's all a bit mysterious, you can't help a man who collect data for a living to get a little antsy about it. But, yes, I'd appreciate whatever you've compiled on your own.

Actually they are! There's also Chess, Checkers maybe we could find a GO set somewhere in one of the shops too... [ Helios chuckles a little. ] I'm glad you'll be joining us though. Always better when there's more people at these things. I figured it'll help deal with some of the craziness we've had to go through this week.

[Ah, card games. She sucks at them by the standards of Spartans (not that the memory of her group might be available for now), but they are games she is familiar with.

The Dome is something she would discuss as well off-journals, but for one thing--]

It's a rather fun roleplaying game! You basically create a character and go on adventures and quests in a fantasy type setting.

[ Albeit it's a bit more detailed than that but Helios will get to that part should Daisy what to know more. Exchanging and gathering information was something he loved to do after all. No matter the topic at hand. This however just happened to be one he was quite enthusiastic about. ]

There's a person known as the Dungeon Master and they control where the adventure occurs, also the non-playable characters of the area. They're basically the storyteller for the game. As for the people you form a party with; together you solve dilemmas, engage in battles and gather treasures and gain knowledge together. This also awards you experience points so you can level up and get stronger as you finish more sessions. [ A pause to let it all sink in. ]

Given my more recent arrival, I have not been here long enough to be able to fully determine whether people are indeed acting strangely or not. Would this be characteristic of one of the Malnosso's experiments then?

You mean changing a person's personality? Yes, they do it rather a lot. I'd call it a one trick pony but who knows where that'll get me. But apparently this is...a bit more than that. [ It's like they changed a person's entire history. ]

[ Ginia or Alice. Either one has proven to him many a drunk night before that they can party, quite well actually. ] Do you think you're up to being the later into the evening's bartender? [ Once all the younger kids who might show up are gone at least. ]

I think we could all use a few well prepared drinks. [ It'll...make things interesting at least. ]

[The changes to his voice are of course noticed, but by this point, Rydia will just go with it and assume he's been changed somehow, too.]

Game night, huh? I don't know if I'll be a regular, but I might need the distraction this time. Realizing that almost everyone remembers the past differently is getting to be a bit of a headache.

We'll see if your opinion changes when it gets underway. [ Just lightly teasing you Rydia. But, no, there will most likely be a drunken after party. So you should really stay and become a regular, yes. ] If you want to bring anyone along you're most certainly welcome to it.

[ And he laughs. ] I'm hoping a good few strong drinks can erase that headache. Hopefully not to be replaced by another though. [ He's had hangovers before. Not fun, not fun at all. ]

[The library, you say? Well, Naoki is around there on Thursday, getting out a couple of books and bringing back more than a few more. He already has his nose buried in one, reading as he walks through the shelves. He's just, uh. Deciding if he wants to take this one out.

Just poker? We'll have other games too. Black Jack, Texas Hold'em, all sorts! But poker, yes, it's quite the well known game. As for that!

Dungeons and Dragons is only considered one of the most popular roleplaying games on Earth!

[After having his drink sampled for poison and then sipping it cautiously and swirling it around his mouth, he deemed his tuica fit for consumption (thus not needing to spit it out) and sat himself at the table tucked into the back corner of Good Spirits. Leaning deeply into his chair and with his legs apart, he seems to project a sense of ease and relaxation. But his nerves tingle with awareness, his pale, wary eyes appraising and analyzing every passerby over the rim of his tall glass.

Another glass - this one a shot glass full of that clear firewater - sits upon the table before him, seemingly in invitation.]

[ Helios will be stopping by the bar just to get a drink or two. It's pretty sparse today, not a lot of people despite everything. But being as that may he'll make his way over towards Issac a small smile as he comes up to the other before taking a seat next to him, eying that glass then Issac again.

Recognition dawns then oh. Yes. He knows you doesn't he? You look very familiar...Helios will lean back in his chair arms crossing over his chest. ] Hm. It's Issac isn't it?

[ This poor, poor town and the people who haven't been exposed to the glory that is D&D. How it pains him to have to tell people what it is. It's a crying shame. ]

It's a roleplaying game where you create a character to play as and go on quests and things with other people playing with you. Those people and their character along with yours form a party.
