folklorist | ϡ - Chapter FortySix; Even the rain can't keep away the sweets [action|voice|video]

[ The light rain in the enclosure does not stop Helios today. He's feeling rather happy and in a mood to share the wonderful change to the outside of House 44. Who knows, maybe someone else would like to do it as well, it's only fair to make people aware of the changes allowed. So the video feed with kick on with Helios smiling happily and a rather gorgeous looking castle in the background. ] I'm happy to say that the shift acquired to t-turn one of the houses here has worked quite well so far. I wasn't sure if anyone was into this sort of thing but, ah, it's a nice reminder of home. I just wanted to show people that we can actually change the outward appearances of the houses here. The inside still remains the same however, but it's an improvement I think.

[ And with that happy note he'll close the video feed and continue on his way into town. So any passerby who is around town will note the stand he’s put up covered with delectable sweets and treats. It’s mainly for the new feathers but anyone is welcome to stop by and have some. People are free to stay in the surprisingly dry bubble around said stand when the rain is especially hard. ]

So it seems like new feather arrivals are upon us once more. It’s very nice to meet you all. I-I hope you get situated relatively quickly. It can be a bit daunting, I know, but if there’s anything you need help with don’t hesitate to ask around. Everyone here is very friendly and rather open when it comes to helping out. If you’re in the village this afternoon I’ve setup a stand with, ah, some sweets should anyone want some. There’s no need to be shy either! These are for everyone, old and new, so stop on by if you’re hungry or just need something sweet.

[ Helios is very chipper and it’s clear that he’s open towards anyone taking the baked goods he’s offering. ]

As for more serious business, I’d like to make an announcement to the village as a whole. Last year we had something known as the Cultural Fair in Luceti, wherein people setup stands and booths that displayed and portrayed parts of their home worlds. It can be whatever you want to show; whether it’s food, games, or even pictorial representations of indigenous species in your world. Anything and everything is allowed ah, well, as long as it’s safe and not t-too terribly messy of course! The fair is going to occur in June fifth. There are posters around town if you haven’t already seen them which also advertise the fair as well. If you have any questions I-I’m open towards talking about it. Or, ah, if you attend the school Professor Raine or Professor Layton can help you with any questions you have as well.

[ And then he’ll pause again before humming slightly as he collects his thoughts. ]

Ah yes! There is one more thing. The magic club which was run previously by Harry Dresden has been absent of late. I-I do want to continue the various projects and meetings if anyone from the prior club still wished to partake in such activities. I-I think coming together and pooling our skills collectively could really turn up some…interesting ideas and prospective projects to help the village along. Perhaps we could have another meeting a week or so after the cultural fair to discuss some things in more detail. I-I would just like people to respond if-if you’re still interested in, ah, learning or doing anything with the club in general. [Grune beams at all of them, just so delighted by how happy they look. She just loves visiting House 44.]

Oh, I've been very good! How have you been?

[She bends down to give the little dragon some scritches.] Hello there!

[ Luminair chirps happily and licks Grune's hand with eager delight. Maggir will growl a little as she tries to get all the petting for herself though she doesn't make any aggressive moves towards Luminair. But Helios will make a 'tut' from his position in the doorway and the dragons will calm down some before anything can occur between the over-excited bundles of energy. They both enjoy scritches okay? ]

Oh! Ah. Q-Quite well, thank you for asking.

[ It's been awhile since he's spoken to Grune and he wonders if she even knows about him and Max. He'll move to the side to let her in and Luminair and Maggir will bound back into the house happily chirping and squeaking away. ]

[Don't worry, little dragons. Grune has two hands--one for each! Although first she's going to follow them all into the house before getting back to business.]

That's good! I'm happy to hear that everyone is doing just fine.

[She looks about briefly.]

The house looks very nice. Did you do anything new with it? [Like, say, turn its exterior into a castle?]

[Grune doesn't know a thing about him and Max ~~because her mun has been amazingly out of the loop lately~~. Will she be filled in?]

[ It's been awhile since they've seen you Grune, and you do give the best pets and scritches so they both are quite content with the pettings. ]

Ah, yes, it's been a rough couple of m-months. But everyone is doing quite well.

[ Helios pauses and then laughs, covering his mouth lightly as he shakes his head. Never change Grune. ] Just the outside being a castle, and we got two additional floors added to the house. And there is...other things that have happened. But-but it doesn't entail the house...

[ He shifts visibly reddening at the thought of telling Grune of all people this. But she was one of his closest friends, and one of the longest ones he's had here. It would be silly not to tell her, even if he doesn't really think she'll react badly to him and Max being a couple. It-it's just...strange to talk about he supposed. ]

[Grune was about to wander back outside to check the outside of the house--my, is it really a castle? --but then those last two sentences distract her and she stops.]

Oh, really? What kinds of things?

[What sort of good news does he have? Because of course it is good news--she just knows it is.]

Ah well...you see. [ Oh dear how does he even go about saying this?! ]

I met someone here named Max Woodville and he and I are...are a couple now. [ He pauses looking slightly less red than a tomato at the moment, but he continues onward. ] I-I decided that-that having someone would be good. And Max is-is- [ completely smitten with him despite the known barrier between them both. ] -he doesn't...really care about my condition, even after I told him that I can't truly l-love him.

[ He smiles and huffs a laugh as a hand runs through his hair. ] I suppose it's about time that I tried again. I know Elise...would have wanted me to be happy. It just took a very long time for me to-to accept it and actually go forward with it. I don't second guess my decision either. [ It's the happiest he's been in a longtime because he and Max just get one another and make each other happy, so it was a very good choice. ]

So-so that's what I wanted to tell you. I just haven't had the chance to talk about it much lately.

[Well, now, Helios, if you were ever at all nervous at any point about telling Grune about your new relationship, this would be about when you would be able to stop worrying. Because the moment he finishes speaking, Grune is just about going to launch herself at him and sweep him up into the mother of all hugs.]

Oh, Helios, that's wonderful! I'm so happy for you!

[She's never met Max before, but as of this very instant, as far as she's concerned, he's now a part of her family and there is no escape for him.]
