ϡ - Chapter FortySix; Even the rain can't keep away the sweets [action|voice|video]
[ The light rain in the enclosure does not stop Helios today. He's feeling rather happy and in a mood to share the wonderful change to the outside of House 44. Who knows, maybe someone else would like to do it as well, it's only fair to make people aware of the changes allowed. So the video feed with kick on with Helios smiling happily and a rather gorgeous looking castle in the background. ] I'm happy to say that the shift acquired to t-turn one of the houses here has worked quite well so far. I wasn't sure if anyone was into this sort of thing but, ah, it's a nice reminder of home. I just wanted to show people that we can actually change the outward appearances of the houses here. The inside still remains the same however, but it's an improvement I think.
[ And with that happy note he'll close the video feed and continue on his way into town. So any passerby who is around town will note the stand he’s put up covered with delectable sweets and treats. It’s mainly for the new feathers but anyone is welcome to stop by and have some. People are free to stay in the surprisingly dry bubble around said stand when the rain is especially hard. ]
So it seems like new feather arrivals are upon us once more. It’s very nice to meet you all. I-I hope you get situated relatively quickly. It can be a bit daunting, I know, but if there’s anything you need help with don’t hesitate to ask around. Everyone here is very friendly and rather open when it comes to helping out. If you’re in the village this afternoon I’ve setup a stand with, ah, some sweets should anyone want some. There’s no need to be shy either! These are for everyone, old and new, so stop on by if you’re hungry or just need something sweet.
[ Helios is very chipper and it’s clear that he’s open towards anyone taking the baked goods he’s offering. ]
As for more serious business, I’d like to make an announcement to the village as a whole. Last year we had something known as the Cultural Fair in Luceti, wherein people setup stands and booths that displayed and portrayed parts of their home worlds. It can be whatever you want to show; whether it’s food, games, or even pictorial representations of indigenous species in your world. Anything and everything is allowed ah, well, as long as it’s safe and not t-too terribly messy of course! The fair is going to occur in June fifth. There are posters around town if you haven’t already seen them which also advertise the fair as well. If you have any questions I-I’m open towards talking about it. Or, ah, if you attend the school Professor Raine or Professor Layton can help you with any questions you have as well.
[ And then he’ll pause again before humming slightly as he collects his thoughts. ]
Ah yes! There is one more thing. The magic club which was run previously by Harry Dresden has been absent of late. I-I do want to continue the various projects and meetings if anyone from the prior club still wished to partake in such activities. I-I think coming together and pooling our skills collectively could really turn up some…interesting ideas and prospective projects to help the village along. Perhaps we could have another meeting a week or so after the cultural fair to discuss some things in more detail. I-I would just like people to respond if-if you’re still interested in, ah, learning or doing anything with the club in general. Thank you for your time and-and as always I hope everyone has a very nice day.

Good day, Master Helios. May I ask what the purpose of the Magic Club is? What do you do?
Oh! Please, just call me Helios. As for that club it's based around people's magical projects that they wish to partake in. Projects that they can't complete on their own and need a magical helping hand.
[She shrugs absently] And please, call me Moiraine.
That sounds like a very wise idea. What sort of projects has the club undertaken so far?
Moriaine, yes, how are you settling in to the school? I-I hope none of the students are giving you a hard time. [ Because kids and teenagers man. Helios will huff and shake his head, his lips twisting into a small smile. ]
Ah, well, there was one or two large ones we were talking about. We being myself and the prior creator of the club. But essentially we were trying to create an artificial ley line that anyone could tap into its power in the enclosure. And the second one was a flying airship. The malnosso and third party have them you see and-and I thought it'd be nice to just try and have one. I found them quite fascinating when we saw them on one of the drafts.
Of course that's all broken up by the idea of an airship...]
You mean using magic to...fly? That's possible where you're from?
Ah, well, yes it is. But we have our own methods of flying in my world. They're called airplanes, generally used by people who don't have access to magic. Most magically inclined people in my world just teleport to their destination. But since not everyone is capable of that here...I thought it might be nice to-to try and gain some method of communal transport around the enclosure. Walking the entire length takes days as it is, but imagine if we could cut over and beyond the rough terrain? It'd take at the most a day, maybe a day and a half if the weather permits.
[Moiraine's eyes actually go wide at that, a definite Capital T on that word. Airplanes she can accept. Sho-Wings existed in the Age of Legends, after all. But Traveling? That had been lost since the Breaking.
Congratulations Helios, you've just broken the Aes Sedai serenity for the first time in Luceti.]
[ Though Helios sees her reaction clear as day and he wonders if he said something wrong. ] I-I hope it isn't...bad in your world. I-I sometimes say things without knowing, I apologize.
[None save the Forsaken, light send that no more than Balthamel and Aginor are loose though.]
Three thousand years ago the Wheel of Time turned and the last age came to an end. It was not a quiet turning, they rarely are. The world was shattered and broken, everything about it changed in a period of strife called the Breaking and many hundreds of thousands died. [Really it was billions, but she has no sense of the scale.] Libraries sank into the ground, academies were destroyed, and teachers passed. Such a thing, like so much else, is no longer possible.
[
Give it two books][Video]
Ah! Perhaps I could teach you my world's form of teleporting then? It-it's not all that hard to learn, you just have to remember the sigil and a few rules about using it.
[Now...the present affair she's involved with? Not so much.]
And as for that, I would be most grateful. If it's something you could teach a woman, I would be...frankly...without words.
[ He actually looks rather surprised to hear that. His expression turning thoughtful afterwards. ] Of course. Any gender can-can learn magic in my world. Is it not the same in yours then?
[And she nods, expression pensive.]
It's the same, though men learn it differently. It's not possible for a man to learn from a woman, or the reverse. We cannot see one another's weavings, and how it's done is so different.
That sounds lovely! I'll be sure to leave my schedule open for sometime in the future then. [ And that makes his expression turn curious and a bit intrigued. ]
I-I see. That's...very interesting. Is there a known reason as to why that is? I-I mean I assume it would be because of how men and woman apply magic or-or perhaps it just has to do with the magic itself being inherently different for either gender.
I see. That's...rather fascinating. I don't think I've ever heard of magic being separated like that before.
