ϡ - Chapter Forty-Five; an aliment [action|voice|written]
[ When the feed initially comes on there’s merely the sound of pained labored breathing. It’s clear that whoever it on the other end is trying desperately to breathe, but it hardly seems to be working well. There’s another pause as the sound of feet crunching through the snow stops. A deep breath filters through followed by a very agonized, wet, and pained cough, which sounds a bit distant as the afflicted turns away. The voice that comes out is slightly Romanian in accent when the person finally speaks. It's shaky and pained despite the attempts to not sound too much so, as if Helios doesn't want anyone to know his aliment at the moment.]
Ah. It’s snowing. R-Reminds me of when I first arrived here. [ A few moments of soft coughing as he continues to walk through the snow. He isn’t really enjoying the snow as much this time around. ]
I’m s-sorry for taking so long to comeback, they k-kept me a bit longer then expected. [ Helios would be one to apologize amidst having something like this. Another few coughs before there’s some stumbling. His voice is soft and if it wasn’t so quiet out he probably wouldn’t even be heard. But talking loudly is just really far too much for him right how. ] Ah. How long was I away for, exactly? Did we g-get more new arrivals yet? If-if we have I-I suppose a welcome is in o-order. [ Another cough or two as he tries to clear his throat. ] W-Welcome to Luceti, if-if you have just arrived. I hope you g-get...get situated nicely.
[ He sounds out of breath as he tries to get it back. But his chest and lungs just are not cooperating. His panic is thinly masked, because he knows that something is terrible wrong. ]
I’ll be home- [ Another fit of coughing as he tries to steady himself against that tree. Each one sends a tremendous amount of pain through his chest that he really just can’t talk anymore. He’ll switch to writing then instead so as to not worry too many people. ]
[ Written ]
I’ll be home shortly. Raine. I. I don’t think I’ll be able teach at the school for the next few days. [ And with that nothing else comes from him. He would ask for assistance but he doesn't want anyone else to get sick, if they even can. He’s missed so much but it was probably best that he didn’t go to school like this. He’s barely able to stand as is and his chest hurts quite a bit too. If you couldn’t tell Helios is a bit under the weather one look at his pale, slightly damp face will show you everything you need to know. And should you happen across him making his way back through the village from the woods behind C2 you will notice how tired and utterly miserable he looks in that snow. Coughing fits will overtake him slowing his progress back to house 44. ]
((ooc; Helios has come back with TB. It's not contagious (ICly though that won't be known) or able to be cured. But it won't get any better or worse for the week or so that he has it. It's in a fixed state of the later stages of the disease. ))

There's a bell on the tea tray if you need anything else, bath salts if you feel you need them, and vapor rub next to the bell. Ring if you need anything.
[action]
Oh goodness no. I-I think you've got everything I need and more. This is all...very thoughtful of you Adele. Thank you...
[ He smiles for the first time all day as he takes another deep breath only to cough once more afterwards. ] I'm sure I'll feel much better after all of this.
[action]
[Her grandfather had some manner of coughing illness before he died. At least she thinks he did. It's all a bit fuzzy now, she'd been terribly young and that may or may not play into her concerns at the moment. She reaches out to rest a hand on his shoulder, give it a light squeeze, reassure herself that he's here and that whatever this is? They can handle it.]
Take a long soak, mm? I'll let Luminair and Maggir know you are home.
[Action]
[ He gives Adele a warm smile as he turned to look at her when she places her hand on his shoulder. He doesn't hunch step away but his shoulders merely sag slightly at that touch. ] Ah yes. I'm sure they're worried, they haven't been too much trouble have they? I-I know that leaving unexpectedly sometimes makes them anxious. Luminair hasn't been taking anything has he?
[ Another cough passes his lips as he looks back at Adele. His expression a bit worried, it was only a week but having two baby dragons was a lot of work when all said and done. Combined with the other pets in the house he's just hoping that they weren't as mischievous as they usually are. ]
[Action]
[She lifts a shoulder, not terribly bothered.]
Maggir has been more demanding of affection, but I think that is simply because she was anxious. Now that you are home they will be well and happy once more.
[Action]
He should grow out of it soon enough. If we don't entertain the behavior, I-I just think it's a natural occurrence with his species. They enjoy the opulence of gems and such. I think I read somewhere that they even decorate their skin with them.
[ He takes another shaky rattling breath to quell the next fit of cough. A soft smile as he nods at Adele's words. ] I'm grateful for you taking care of them. It was probably a nice time for you three to bond. [ He laughs just a little before he takes off the extra coat he was given. ]
[Action]
[that cough worries her. She's not one to specialize in infectious diseases- what she's always treated falls into the realm of contusions, fractures, hemorrhaging, not wasting illness. It could be a cold. It could be pneumonia. It could be nothing.]
...I know you don't care for the clinic but...can I look you over? Once you've bathed and warmed up. Here, in the house.
[Action]
[ Another cough wracks his body and he stifles it with a very great effort. It's only when Adele says those words that a worried look plants itself in his eyes. He really doesn't want her to, but he knows it'd be foolish to let things continue as they are. His entire body hurts and he really just wants to know what's wrong with him at this point. The pain is exhausting to bear and it's quite obvious that it is.
His voice is barely above a whisper when he finally responds. Uncertainty tainting his tone of voice. ]
I-I suppose so. It-it's just a very bad cough and chest pains. [ But he's a bit too tired to argue against it. ]
[Action]
[Something about the same grade as an over the counter medicine. They had a handfull of pills she'd never taken when she was having the worst of her night terrors- and if he didn't care for the medication they could always use that tea.]
[Action]
All right. I-I don't have much of a- [ another cough racks his body making him shake and lean up against the counter to support himself. This blasted cough, he's really sick of it already. He takes a shake breath of air to quench his tired lungs and body before he continues to speak. ] Do you h-have any ideas as to what it might be? I just hope it's not c-contagious. I would feel dreadful if I-I got any of you sick. I-I don't think it's a cold or the f-flu either. M-Maybe bronchitis or-or something like that?
[ He's never had a cold or flu like this before, bronchitis he's never had before either. An pneumonia was something akin to this, when he had long ago, so perhaps that's what it was. And here he looks entirely apologetic. Maybe he shouldn't have come home, maybe the clinic would've been better. Either way if this didn't get better soon he's not sure what he was going to do. The good thing is that it was most likely a shift, but even those tended to last a week or more. He hated being a burden on people, but that concern was not voiced. ]
[Action]
[She reaches out to rest her hand against his, curling her fingers around to hold it. Offer a reassuring squeeze and speak in her gentlest voice.]
Whatever it is? I will find out and better yet, find a way to treat it. Between the medicine I have in the house, Nala, and what is available in the clinics for my use I am certain I can see you well in time. Take a hot bath, use the oil to help you breathe. Drink your tea. Relax. The soak will do you good.
[She steps in, slow as she always is for him, and tugs him into a very loose, very brief, very gentle hug. Something quick and reassuring.]
[Action]
[ Helios smiles with that embrace a soft cough breaking the silence. But he looks more at ease and happier as well. If he could ease the worry then he would certainly do so, because it's hard on him just as much as it has to be on everyone else as well. But a good soak and some tea is definitely all the more tempting now. As Max's spell wears down and pain resurfaces once again. ]
[Action]
Bathe. Relax. Call me when you are ready to sit by the fire and I will bring your dragons to you. And your meal. Don't worry about anything else tonight. Once you are comfortable and warm I will look you over, mmm?
[Action]
Alright. That-that sounds perfectly fine.
[Action]
[Action]
He'll look around noting the quietness but not thinking much of it as he walks into the kitchen. ]
A-Adele?
[Action]
[Adele turns from the stove, a pot of stew simmering away and a tray prepped and ready of nice, hot, sweet tea waiting for him. She offers him a quick smile and ladles out a measure of the stew, setting it in a bowl on the same tray as the tea. It was a simple meal, hearty and healthy and warm, not even her with her anxiety could have mucked it up. He could eat, first, eat and rest and she could observe before beginning an exam proper. That was the plan.]
The fire is going in the hearth- why don't you sit down with Luminair and Maggir and I'll bring you the tray?
[Action]
[ He'll even take a deep breath and make a pleased noise. He coughs a little covering his mouth as he nods to her suggestion. ]
If you don't mind I think I will take you up on that offer. [ He's feeling very tired at the moment. He'll head back inside then the happy chirping of the two baby dragons makes him smile. Helios forgets all about his current condition as he bends down to pick up Luminair and Maggir, both of whom happily nestle into his arms. He'll then take a seat by the hearth some light coughing escaping his lips as he does so. ]
I've missed you both as well. But I'm home now so there's nothing to worry about. [ Goodness he has missed them both so terribly much, his soft whispering to both little dragons is a bit telling as well. ]
[Action]
Adele shakes her head a bit and finishes setting up the tray, walking out and weaving around the cats which came out to observe Helios' return. Curious things. The tray is set on the coffee table for a moment while Adele pulls out the stands so she could set it across Helios' lap and spare him some effort.]
Whenever you are ready, Helios.
[Action]
It's only when Adele comes in with the tray that he sets both of the baby dragons down and gives her a wane, but bright, smile. ]
Ah. It-it smells delicious, thank you Adele. I-I think I'm ready, if you are I mean. [ He'll try to be as good a patient as possible, but he was never one for clinics or doctors so his dealings with them is a bit obscure. ]
Sh-should I do anything? T-to make it easier?
[Action]
[Normally she wouldn't leave it to just the spirit- but anything medical tends to leave Helios skittish and uncomfortable and he's been stressed enough with whatever this illness is. For the moment Adele contents herself with using the expanded awareness provided by the spirit to sort out what the possible ailment might be.]
[Action]
[ But it's rather difficult at the moment to breathe at all, let alone deeply. Helios will try to take a deep breath but it only results in him coughing roughly into his hand. He gives Adele an apologetic look, trying to steady himself before trying again. This time there's a bit more success in the act. ]
[Action]
You're doing wonderful, Helios.
