ϡ - Chapter Forty-Five; an aliment [action|voice|written]
[ When the feed initially comes on there’s merely the sound of pained labored breathing. It’s clear that whoever it on the other end is trying desperately to breathe, but it hardly seems to be working well. There’s another pause as the sound of feet crunching through the snow stops. A deep breath filters through followed by a very agonized, wet, and pained cough, which sounds a bit distant as the afflicted turns away. The voice that comes out is slightly Romanian in accent when the person finally speaks. It's shaky and pained despite the attempts to not sound too much so, as if Helios doesn't want anyone to know his aliment at the moment.]
Ah. It’s snowing. R-Reminds me of when I first arrived here. [ A few moments of soft coughing as he continues to walk through the snow. He isn’t really enjoying the snow as much this time around. ]
I’m s-sorry for taking so long to comeback, they k-kept me a bit longer then expected. [ Helios would be one to apologize amidst having something like this. Another few coughs before there’s some stumbling. His voice is soft and if it wasn’t so quiet out he probably wouldn’t even be heard. But talking loudly is just really far too much for him right how. ] Ah. How long was I away for, exactly? Did we g-get more new arrivals yet? If-if we have I-I suppose a welcome is in o-order. [ Another cough or two as he tries to clear his throat. ] W-Welcome to Luceti, if-if you have just arrived. I hope you g-get...get situated nicely.
[ He sounds out of breath as he tries to get it back. But his chest and lungs just are not cooperating. His panic is thinly masked, because he knows that something is terrible wrong. ]
I’ll be home- [ Another fit of coughing as he tries to steady himself against that tree. Each one sends a tremendous amount of pain through his chest that he really just can’t talk anymore. He’ll switch to writing then instead so as to not worry too many people. ]
[ Written ]
I’ll be home shortly. Raine. I. I don’t think I’ll be able teach at the school for the next few days. [ And with that nothing else comes from him. He would ask for assistance but he doesn't want anyone else to get sick, if they even can. He’s missed so much but it was probably best that he didn’t go to school like this. He’s barely able to stand as is and his chest hurts quite a bit too. If you couldn’t tell Helios is a bit under the weather one look at his pale, slightly damp face will show you everything you need to know. And should you happen across him making his way back through the village from the woods behind C2 you will notice how tired and utterly miserable he looks in that snow. Coughing fits will overtake him slowing his progress back to house 44. ]
((ooc; Helios has come back with TB. It's not contagious (ICly though that won't be known) or able to be cured. But it won't get any better or worse for the week or so that he has it. It's in a fixed state of the later stages of the disease. ))

[Action] yay
How else would I be? The scientists...released me for the moment.
[The comment draws a wry, but mirthless smile]
Under the weather. Strange choice of words.
[Action] woohoo!
Ah. Just a-a commonly used phrase. [ But oh. That was in poor taste and he didn't even notice. ] I-I didn't mean to offend you, if-if I have. I apologize. I'm not thinking straight right now
[ Having tuberculosis will do that to you though. He sounds apologetic at least and looks it too as he walks unsteadily towards her. ]
[Action]
You did no such thing, don't be foolish. You are unwell. So come with me. Bed. That is what you need.
[Perhaps more direct and brusque than she'd otherwise have said. But it's still true.]
[Action]
I-I'm sorry about all of this. First I get you taken by the Malnosso and now you have to help me back to the house. [ It was almost ironic if the situations weren't so dire at the moment. Saori being angry with him wouldn't surprise him in the least either. She certainly had every right to be. ]
But bed rest does sound very tempting. I-I should be fine after resting for a little while. [ Or so he thinks. But with how terrible he's feeling right now, Helios isn't sure about that at all. ]
[Action]
[The human inside is, however, breathing a sigh of relief that this part of her understands at least. Something about Helios, perhaps the Seals, makes her not want to see him hurt.]
Rest and food, they are what you will require. I shall have food brought to you.
[She waves a hand, and a thick, solid cushion of air slides up under Helios, knocking him into an invisible wheelchair of sorts.]
Just relax.
[Action]
Oh. Ah. Th-thank you. I-I know it's probably not something you're used to d-doing. But I appreciate this Saori.
[Action]
[And off she starts, the wheelchair strolling on behind her.]
I perhaps have not, but she has. You need the help, and I'll not leave you out like this.
[Action]
[ Another soft cough behind his hand as he looks to the goddess. It was clear that they were two different individuals now. This onset being the product of the kidnapping most likely. But Helios will ease back into the chair a bit more relaxed than before. ]
H-How is everything back home? Have you been around here long?
[Action]
[She keeps walking a cold but not impatient or unkind look on her face. Just distant.]
I was returned here a few days ago. But things are quiet. You were missed.
[Action]
Oh I-I see. That's good it's always better when it's quiet. I'll have to apologize for keeping everyone waiting then. [ he smiles but it falters as he coughs again into his hand. He'll lean back into the chair and take a few shuddering breaths as he tries to regain his composure. ]
[Action]
Helios, do I make you nervous?
[Action]
N-No you don't. I-I'm just-just not feeling very well. It's dreadfully cold out is all.
[ But, no, lying to a god was probably a very bad idea and yet he couldn't admit that he was somewhat disconcerted. ] But I do have to admit that I'm also not used to seeing this side of you.
[Action]
[She looks down at him, and actually reaches out, trying to do him a kindness. He was, after all, someone the other side cared for. When he did, the faint brush of her fingers was all it took to banish the spirit.
Her voice warms and her eyes change back to brown.]
The shift on me is growing weaker. I think it will be gone if that happens again. Touching you was much easier than it should be. Now, as for the cold...
[A hand moves in an arcane pattern, and the wind around them ceases. A heavy curtain of warm, humid air forms over him as well, a cloudy blanket snuggling against him.]
[Action]
[ He'll watch, mildly fascinated, and then smile. The ensuing warmth of her voice and transformation in her eyes tells him that she's somewhat reverted back to her otherself, the more human side that she holds. ] That's good news to hear. They're sometimes quite awful when it comes to these-these shifts and their effects.
[ He'll cough once more before feeling that heat wrap itself around him. It was like a summer day and it made him just warm enough to banish the piercing and not make his skin feel too weird or uncomfortable. A very pleased sigh passes his lips as he leans back into his chair. ]
That feels wonderful. Thank you. I-I hope it doesn't take too much to maintain such a thing.
[Action]
[A hand brushes fondly against his shoulder as she starts walking again, this time slower and beside him rather than in front.]
Of course not. It's such a small thing. And you deserve it. You're my family, after all. I love you dearly, you know.
[Action]
Oh I-I certainly know that. You've been so very kind to me all this time, it's hard not to realize it. The warmth is wonderful. I almost feel a hundred percent better already!
[Action]
I'm glad that you think I've been kind to you. I hope you would, but I never know with diseases. I don't think that'll be the last of it though. You need soup and rest. Do not worry, I'll feed you.
[Action]
I-I don't have to think at all. It's merely the truth, isn't it? Everything you've done for me has been more than the word kind can express.
[ Another you coughs are caught by his hand which is clamped over his mouth. ] You're right I do. I-I I guess saying otherwise would be...rather silly of me. [ because it's quite obvious that Helios is not in the best of shape at the moment. ]
[Action]
I think you express it with action well enough, my dear friend.
[She gives him a worried frown when he coughs, the faintest hint of blood in the air.]
What did they do to you? Do you remember any of it?
[Action]
I-I don't. I don't remember what they did. I just woke up in the forest like this. [ He coughs again this time the tangy irony taste of blood fills his mouth. He looks a bit panicked slightly scared as he pulls his hand away and sees a small amount of blood on his hand. He'll look back at the goddess with some panic in his voice and overall expression. ]
S-Saori...
[Action]
[The sight of the blood causes her eyes to go wide with panic. She reaches down and picks him up, cradling him in her strong arms. Whirling she takes off towards home, feet springing into the air, whizzing along the ground at breakneck speed.]
You will be alright. Do not worry, but we must go quickly. I do not want you in this chill any longer.
[She only hopes that it's not the same illness as the one that took her family.]
[Action]
[ This was exactly what he feared and he can't exactly shake the guilty tone in his voice. He knows that Saori won't let him go even as he speaks those words of minor comfort. And even as he does there's a sickening anxious and otherwise foreboding sense building in the pit of his stomach. ]
[Action]
[He knew better, and she only sped up, zipping through the town towards home.]
Soup. Warm soup. And tea. I know some medicines to help.
[The door bangs open and she's depositing Helios on the couch a heartbeat later]
It'll be alright. Just...lie down.
[Action]
S-Saori. It's all right, it'll pass. These fits have been getting less and less powerful. I'm sure with the house being as warm as it is that it'll stop shortly.
[Action]
[Warm winds stream in from nowhere and drop a blanket on him. There's a faint rattle in the kitchen of things being prepared, and she returns a moment later with steaming ginger tea.]
The soup is heating. Drink this. It might taste a bit strong, but it's good for you.
[Screw you Helios, you are getting mothered.]
