ϡ - Chapter FortyTwo; Mythica in a winter wonderland. [action|voice]

[ Good afternoon Luceti; if you’re in town today you’ll notice some large lumbering pure white figures walking or flying about. No they aren’t harmful in the least, although the creatures they take after might argue otherwise, and they are not yetis or other such things that come out in the thickest of snowfalls. What they are the products of one derpy headmaster feeling the Christmas cheer thanks to the effects the Malnosso have put in place and him waking up very early in the morning after the snowfall last night to make said creatures. There will be various mythological snow creatures walking about today though none of them can make much noise or do much of anything, they’re pretty docile actually and if you wanted to you could probably even ride on top of them; they won't mind, really! There will be a dragon with icicles for horns and teeth in the town plaza and it'll greet people who enter the town with a happy flick of its tail. Helios will be there for a good portion of the day also making a majestic Griffin, and a snow unicorn. That’s not to say these are the only things that’ll be popping up. Other mythological creatures might be seen around as well. Phoenixes, mandrakes, minotaurs, kitsunes, Kodama in the more forested areas and even a Nue. The list is really endless and Helios has been having too much fun doing this again this year. There's a stand nearby as well with hot chocolate and other warm beverages as well. As for the mythologies most of them will be life sized but nothing too extravagant or outlandish. The tallest would be around ten or so feet tall, while others miniatures in size. They’ll all be moving and just mulling about and you can be sure they’re movements are quite like the real things if you’ve ever encountered one.

The mythologies can be interacted with through the entire day with Helios sometimes in accompaniment. And later into the afternoon Helios will be found in the town square with his snowy dragon companion making your standard issued snowmen, each one getting their own complimentary hat, scarf, and pipe. He'll take a break and eventually pull out his journal for a short little network post. Maggir and Luminair aren’t with him, due to the cold, but the snowy little dragon following Helios around sure does resemble his baby dragon back at home! ]

Ah I love it when it snows like this, there’s an ethereal sort of calm that comes with snowfall don’t you think? The way it falls silently and blankets everything in white...it’s rather beautiful and it’s come just in time. I was wondering if we were going to get any this year. [ He sounds pleased that they have though. ]

If, if anyone remembers from last year...I-ah, made a bunch of-of snow mythica around the town. S-So if you run into any today don’t be alarmed! They’re made purely out of snow a-and they're very friendly too! They tend to, um, take after the one wh-who makes them. [ Clearing his throat now. ]

If anyone has any other creatures from their own worlds they’d like to make and animate, I can certainly take requests! You’re more than welcome to ask too, don’t be shy! I do love making snowmen and it’s almost Christmas! Spreading the holiday cheer is what it’s all about right about now! Santa would probably be proud, he is a very kind and generous sort of man; he always was very good with giving out the compliments, too. Speaking of myths...has anyone heard about a being called Yuki-onna? It’s one of the better known ones in my world, Japanese in origin, but they stories describe her as a tall and beautiful woman with black hair and blue lips. She's said to be quite cold, figuratively and literally, but she also has a more motherly and good side to her too. The Snow Queen is another one, based on Yuki-onnas, and then there's even Jack Frost too! Jack Frost is...well, he's a personification of cold and crisp winter weather. He's also a variant of Old Man Winter, but the important thing to note is that Jack Frost symbolizes the youthful nature and wonder of children playing in the snow. And then there's Kuraokami, a dragon of rain and snow in Japan. He's quite the talker as well, but very good at ice sculptures. I learned that the hard way.

[ Helios laughs because that was a bad bet to get into. He totally knows this from experience guys. Not like anyone is surprised anymore. ]

I wonder if Santa will stop by Luceti too. Ah, well, that’s left to speculation at this point. It makes you wonder if the people here had someone like him to go around and give presents to them too. Or if they even had a holiday like Christmas at all. [ So many questions, so many left unanswered! ]

I do hope everyone has a good holiday though; you can never get too into the spirit of things.

[ Finally around later in the evening all the snow mythica will go back to being their snowy, sculptural selves, and can be found throughout the village in regal more natural poses. ]

Bigfoot and Nessy, hm? I think I can manage those. You're a fan of the classics then, Mulder?

[ He sounds amused and there's some shuffling on his end as he gets to work on those. ] I remember meeting Nessy when I visited Ireland to speak with a few Druids. She was rather nice, actually, a bit shy but...very hospitable.

[That's quite possibly the coolest thing he's heard in a while... and in this place, really, that's a big deal.]

Very impressive! I've always wanted to catch just a small glimpse if I could someday... How did you manage to get her to come and see you? Was it to do with your magic somehow?

I, ah, actually just wanted to talk to her really. I-I had some questions about a few of the Scottish mythica in the area, particular pertaining to a certain Glastig, Nessy helped me figure out where she was. [ He smiles on his end, his voice conveying his amusement. ]

The Kelpie's residing in the loch also helped too. Thankfully I was able to find the person I was looking for.

[Just think of what he must have uncovered during that conversation! Mulder is already considering the possibilities.]

It's good to hear that the loch has so much activity... I always thought there would be a lot to learn there.

[ If only you knew Mulder, if only you knew. ]

Oh yes! Nessy has quite the wide array of connections. She even knows the Atlantians, it's how I got to see Atlantis. Most of the time they would never let an outside within their city. But I apparently got a very good recommendation from here. [ And a few mermaids or two. ]

That does it, I'm booking a trip to Scotland if I get home. [Too bad he'd apparently never remember this to remind himself of it. But no matter. He'll keep his hope up that he'll find a way.] So what is Atlantis like? I've seen plenty of speculations over the years...

[ Helios laughs over on his end. ] It's a gorgeous place to visit. I recommend it to anyone who likes to travel. But, hm, Atlantis.

[ Helios pauses, humming as he thinks on how to reply. Atlantians were very specific about their knowledge and whereabouts being known to others. But Helios hardly thinks Mulder the type of man to go there and try to plunder it for gold. ] It looks like ancient Rome in some ways. But there's more of a technological sophistication to it, similar to the times now. Or, ah, in two thousand and ten. The atlantians themselves look like normal people, usually, but with lighter tinged blue skin. They have a sort of...gradient texture to their skin, it helps with fishing and hunting out in the ocean, you know? And they can shape shift from mermaid or merman back to bipedal forms. Some of them can even turn into full fledged fish! It's remarkable really, I never asked how they did it. Probably some sort of familial transmogrification magic.

So they're fully adapted to the undersea environment... I always thought they might have to be, in some manner. [It's indeed very cool to Mulder, and it's really just for his own interest that he wants to know.] There must be so much culture, so much knowledge that could be found by interacting with them. I have to wonder why they've kept themselves so separate from us, all of this time... but then again, knowing the ways of people on the surface, I almost can't blame them.

The city itself is enveloped in a giant air bubble as well. It, ah, helps when they have visitors or-or survivors from...crashes and disasters and whatnot. You're right, about asking why they never have interacted with us. Perhaps they just...don't feel as if the people on the surface would use their culture and advancements for good. Or-or maybe they're just a shy group of people. [ Helios shrugs on his end. ]

I'd like to see it one day though. Humans and Atlantians finally actually, ah, acknowledging and working with one another.

I would too. I realize why they might want to keep it out of the hands of some people on the surface, of course, why there's a real need for caution. There's that nasty habit of turning everything around into a machine of war or similar.

But... there is a lot of great potential, as well. Their technology could undoubtedly help us. Plus, we'd probably get cooler diving equipment as a result.

...Considering all of the worlds represented here, maybe an Atlantian or so will show up one day.

That's very true, and I understand entirely. I hope one day that they'll come to see us capable of using their technology together a-and work together with us. [ Helios smiles on his end. It's a large dream and a big goal to achieve, but Helios thinks he'll be able to make it happen. ]

Perhaps they will show up. That would be rather fascinating.

Just to talk to them about their experiences and culture, to find out the things they know... I'd definitely go out for drinks with one. Or... whatever sort of customs they might have.

Overall... I'd like to believe that our worlds can coincide in peace.

It's fascinating to hear their stories. Learning about what's underneath the sea too. There's an entirely different world down there, I think. But I think you're on to something. I-I just hope that it can happen...in my own world. It's for that hope and wish that I...opened the Academy in the first place after all.

[That pings Mulder's interest- like everything in the conversation has, pretty much.]

Tell me more about this Academy, what's it like?

I, ah, run it from our old family castle actually. I-I'm trying to make humans see that mythica are not what the stories and legends proclaim them to be. It-it's a work in progress to be honest. Though I have seen subtle changes in things so far.

The world needs more academies like that... maybe if people are better educated they wouldn't have to fear the creatures of legend, and vice versa. A lot of what I would run into back home... probably could have been avoided if people were more respectful of the paranormal.

I-I think you're right. I know that people fear the things they can't see or explain. It's...hard to break people out of such a mindset though. F-Fear is, well, it's a rather powerful emotion when it gets ahold of you. The stories and legends don't help either.

That's why they have to be educated, so that they understand what's really out there and that they don't have to fear it... not if they're willing to coexist with a lot of it. It might be hard for some people to accept, of course.

[ Helios lets out a small huff on his end. ] You're certainly right about that. Lots of people, even in the magical aspect, don't really like to, um, accept or learn about the mythica in my world. [ He frowns and it's pronounce in his tone of voice as well. ]

I just wish it was different, you know? There are so many things to be discovered and created if-if everyone just worked and lived together. Mythologies aren't all that different from us after all. They all want the same things mostly.

That's my feeling too. If people could take the time to understand and appreciate those of a more mythical persuasion... things would be a lot better.

Well perhaps that's our purpose in life. To, um, help educate and form a cohesive bond between humans and mythica alike! [ It's a nice feeling when said bond is made and is actually strong. ]

I could get behind that as a life's purpose. It's an important bond to forge, for the sake of everyone involved.

I think you'd do rather well in my world, Mulder. I do wish you could stop by for a visit after, ah, all this.

If I can find a way to do that, I'll make it one of my first field trips. I really hope it'll be possible to venture to the other worlds when we manage to get out of this situation.

I hope it's possible as well. There's...several people that I'd like to see again that have left here. [ Giles, Ginia, Frederic. ]

Maybe the Malnosso will be kind enough to show us their own progress on such matters one day.
