ϡ - Chapter Forty-One; a new beginning [forward dated to the afternoon]

[ Anyone nearby the bridge by House 47 and House 35 will see the droids unceremoniously drop a rather disgruntled and startled blonde man into the river. Helios wasn’t awake fully at the time, but he sure is now! He is just going to sputter and flail a bit in the water before making his way towards dryer land. Helios is totally not amused by this guys, especially since it's kinda cold out. The water is also an odd shade of purple…and that grass is blue. He is just…really confused, because nothing is the right color and he’s slightly panicking from this revelation. It must be a side-effect…it has to be. And once he finally runs into people, he'll notice a strange and alarming aura around each individual person. It's a side-effect from John's tampering with his death penalty.

He’ll groggily get up and wring out his long sleeve shirt and jacket, huffing and mumbling under his breath. Not the graceful or nicest of re-entries to the enclosure. You can find Helios walking through the village, soaking wet and a bit miffed, back to his house. And once he gets there he’ll get settled, changed, and make a voice entry.]

I’m, ah, b-back. Thank you f-for whoever took care of the Library in my absence. Everything is well, aside from seeing things in c-color again. Surprisingly…strange and saying that is rather odd too. [ A laugh on his end. There’s a rattling noise from somewhere off in the distance. Luminair’s chirps get excited and happy as Helios gives a surprised gasp. ] Oh! Gods , is it really that time already? I-I didn’t even realize…though the time it takes is far less than your own.

[ Helios clears his throat, his tone slightly more jovial and happy than before. ] It’s a pleasure to meet all the new arrivals we’ve gotten these past few weeks. I hope everyone hasn’t had too much t-trouble settling in. The library is free to use for anyone who wants, and we also have a bookclub that meets once a month. Also if anyone has any questions about the spirits of this place, or m-magic in general, I ah wouldn’t mind assisting you in learning. There’s also a m-magic club that meets every once in awhile too! [ Some more rattling as Luminair chirps more emphatically. ]

Oh, dear, I-I wonder if it’ll last until tomorrow… [ A tapping noise as he taps a pencil on the table. ]

Ah. I-I was wondering…how many people would be interested in seeing a newborn dragon hatch? I-I think this calls for a little celebration, don’t you think Luminair? [ A happy chirp in reply is heard from somewhere off in the room. ]

If anyone wants to stop by tomorrow to see the hatching…I wouldn’t mind having a small little get together! I could make some food and-and a cake too. Anyone is welcome to come by house forty-four. We could all benefit from a little celebration once in awhile, hm?

((ooc; For Helios' return effect he is seeing people's auras, along with seeing the world in weird colors and shades. The auras that Helios are seeing, are just different facets to a person's personality. If you don't want him to see someone's aura just let me know and we can work around that! ))

I'm kinda interested in seein' if I can get in touch with some of the spirits here, especially... whatshisface? The electricity one. Think you could give me a quick lesson? I'd really like t' know what kinda stuff powers the magic here too, like the Nono or something else.

[Red's aura is... well, it's more than likely just red. That is, if Helios can see auras via the journal.]

Tsinku you mean? He's one of the more challenging spirits to contact, but with a little work and practice I think everyone can make connections with all the spirits here. If you'd like to meet sometime during the week that'd be fine too. [ Hm. ]

Does your own world have magic then?

Yeah, we do! Thing is, only Felinekos - uh, cat-people - are really able t' use it back home. I'm a Caninu - dog-person - and we're not really good with spells at all. If this world's magic uses Nono like back home, I might be outta luck.

You can certainly count on me to do so. [ A smile in his voice carries through the journal. ]

And what are these Nonos? I mean...the spirits here have a slight preference to who they lend their power to. Like people with affinity to fire back in their world often have no trouble contacting Eferin, whereas Sona might be a bit more difficult for them to learn and meet.

I dunno much about it myself; like I said, dog, not cat.

I think it's a kind of... force, or energy? It's everywhere, and some people can draw energy from it t' cast spells with. Nobody's real sure what it is, but there's theories.

Maybe if I knew how t' do magic stuff, I could say for sure what this world's got, but I don't so I can't. Don't think I got any affinity thing either, but I figure electricity's handy when you're workin' with machines. [Or beings that need a good zap so Red can slip past...]

I see. It sounds rather fascinating. There aren't any books on it, are there? It sounds similar to my own world's magic. But I think if you really want to learn from Tsinku, then you are more than likely to make a connection with him. Since you, ah, express a certain interest or skill in electrical application.

[ Helios pauses to think. ] I think it's worth a try.

Maybe there's some in the library here... I dunno what all there is, but it seems pretty big. I'll take a look later... maybe when we meet up? Speakin' of that, got a time and place in mind?

If you've just arrived it takes a bit of time for books from your own world to show up. But in due time there's a possibilities of them doing so. I-I can be on the look out for any of them, if you'd prefer. I do run the the library after all. [ He chuckles a little. ]

Hm. How about sometime next week? Or whenever you'd be available to do so. I, ah, am quite free after school ends around two in the afternoon.

Hey, that sounds good! Maybe you'll see a coupla books from my world by then! Should I just contact you when I'm ready?

I'll be sure to let you know if I find any of them! And, ah, yes! Whenever you're ready, I'm always available via the journals or-or just stopping by at the library after two o clock on most days will do as well.

Alright! [Wait, there was something else...]

Oh, right! Do you know anythin' about the school here? I figure brushin' up on some stuff couldn't hurt.

As a matter of fact I work there as well, so yes! [ Helios is just a busy bee, don't mind him. ] There's several offered classes. Magic, world sharing, music, art, math and science.

Man, I wanna sign up for all of those! How do I get started in the school? [Hopefully he's not the only late-teen in a group of kids. That would be embarrassing.]

Ah, well, I would suggest contacting Raine Sage. She's, um, the head of the school. But there's a few preliminary entrance tests you have to take. But! They're nothing serious, they just place you into whatever classes you fit in, depending on your score.

Oh, tests. Well, send 'em my way. [He sounds... significantly less enthused.] Or do I gotta talk to this Raine lady for 'em?

Hm I suppose any one of the teachers could administer them. But I'd speak with Professor Sage at any rate. When would you like to take them?

I could head over to the school right now if ya wanted, but I'm not in a hurry. What works for you? I got nothin' else to do!

I could possibly meet you there now as well, if you'd like. Maybe even give a little tour so you get acquainted with the place beforehand.

[Whenever Helios gets there, Red's going to be waiting somewhere near the entrance, perhaps outside the door or just inside the building. Doesn't look like he's been there terribly long, though.]

[ Helios won't take too long to get there. After checking in with his housemates and getting a fresh change of clothes prior to their conversation, he'll head out in roughly half an hour. He finally makes it to the school entrance wherein his spots red. He spots a little bit away, waving quite happily to the other. ]

Oh! Hello! You must be the one I spoke to over the journals, correct? I apologize, I didn't catch your name. I'm Helios Sprensonne.

Knew I forgot somethin'! I'm Red Savarin. [He holds out a hand for a cordial handshake.] Nice to meet you!

Hey, before we get started, what kinda things are on that test?

It's a pleasure! [ Helios gives the other a cordial smile and a shake with his gloved hand. ]

Oh, um, just simple questions about math and science. Those sorts of things. It's nothing to be worried about. It's just placement tests after all!

That doesn't sound too bad. I'll have to check out some books later and get to studyin'.

[Red pauses for a moment, sighing softly and staring up at the building.] Anyway, we better get the tour started.

No it's not at all! It's a quick test too, only a few questions, and there's no pressure whatsoever.

[ Helios smiles and then goes forward to pull open the door, staring back at the other for a few moments. Red had...and interesting aura to say the least. But Helios won't stare for too long before realizing its poor manners and the poor boy will probably think Helios judging him based on how he looks. A town full of humans can't be too terribly comfortable to get situated in at first. ] Oh! Um, yes of course, right this way!

[The staring is understandable. Most of the people here have only seen one person even vaguely like Red. He's a little embarrassed, but he keeps it to himself as he walks into the school.]

Looks pretty nice! Kinda big, but it's gotta be for a place like this.
