ϡ - Chapter Fifty; Let it snow, let it snow [action|voice]

[ Helios will be dumped off unceremoniously into the snow early morning of the 2nd of December. It's a light snow, but it is sticking, so he's bound to be able to make some sculptures with it. It's become something of a tradition and Helios is going to uphold it for as long as he can. Despite the evident bruising and his wobbly steps Helios is going to pretend that he wasn't just dumped into the snow by a pair of droids. He'll set off right to work after returning to House 44 and stopping off at House 51 to check in on Max and his housemates. Ensuring them all that he's not gone and that he had just been mallynapped for a few days. He'll also be busy setting up some Christmas decorations in the Library because tis the season, etc, etc. Once that's taken care of he'll set to work in the plaza.

He'll setup a station with warm cider, coffee, and coco before he makes his sculptures once again around the general vicinity of the town. It's a nice way to bring in the new season and the first snow fall of the year. Luminair and Maggir will be with him as well, Luminair sporting a cute little sweater while Maggir has her thick fur coat. They're both having loads of fun in the snow. Maggir especially since she was built for the weather. The two dragons will run over and play with anyone who walks by including snow mythica. They'll be around town chasing the prancing unicorns, fluttering pixies and swooping phoenixes that dot the sky, each one leaving a trail of snow in the air as they dive and twirl in the air. serpentine dragons will smoothly move through the snow strewn ground in silent majestic grace. Anyone can stop by for some entertain or make your own. ]

How many of you have heard of a Yuki-onna? They're a type of spirit that takes the form of a beautiful woman with raven black hair. They're said to lead traveler's astray to freeze to death in the winter months of Japan. But to be fair I've always found them helpful on my travels. [ He'll laugh a little at that because he got so terribly lost that one time... ]

There's also Amarok, Akhlut, Barbegazi, Hrimthurs, Ijiraq, and some others. But Jotuns, Yetis, Wendigoes, and Father Winter are probably some of the more well known names associated with winter. It's amazing how many mythological creatures are associated with weather when you think about it. Oh! I almost forgot about Jack Frost! He's a very popular character during this time of the year too. [ Derp Helios, derp. ]

But if anyone wants to stop by plaza for some hot coco and to help me build some snow myths feel free to do so! The new cafe in Cloud Nine's place is just about ready to open as well. I have some food from the menu out for snacking on too, if people would oblige me in taste testing them. I think having it open after the New Year will be best since, ah, I still need a good few volunteers to help out with running it. If-if you know anyone or would like to help out feel free to contact me in person or through the journals. I'll certainly be about!

[ And true to his word Helios will definitely have hot plates of food out for people to nibble on as well. It's an assortment of things like pot stickers, some cheese and crackers, and other finger foods. Some of them recognizable while others not so much. ]

More subtle might be better. [ You don't want to rush these things after all. But Helios could see why the other man might want to. ]

Go for a walk, show him around the place if you haven't already. Perhaps even stop by the lake or ocean for a breath of fresh air. [ He smiles. ]

Think of it as having another chance to enjoy his company again.

"Well it is the season for hibernating. Even Luminair and Maggir put on a little weight this time of the year." That get two rather ruffled chirps from the little dragons. But Helios just smiles and laughs.

"I have a few for several myths in Japan and England thus far. Also a few for Ireland and Scotland as well. But I need to branch out a bit more. Perhaps throwing in some Egyptian or African styled food might not be such a bad thing either."

The dog wags her tail, such as it is. Clearly she doesn't mind being encouraged to eat. Because she's gonna anyway.

"Hmm, well, have you considered American food? Or Indian?"

Yes, it does make sense when you put it that way.

[Jack is smiling now too, any trace of his previous uncertainty long since vanished.]

It is hard to stay in a bad mood during a beautiful snowfall, even if you aren't out playing in it. There's just something so serene about watching it fall.

... Where do they live besides Japan? Ah, or do you not have Japan in your world?

You're absolutely right, Helios. I need to do exactly that and perhaps I'll be able to bond with him again.

[His face shows absolute determination and confidence. He is ready for this!]

[ Helios lets out an amused snort at that. ]

Not on the run per say. But they are vastly outnumbered to humans in this day and age. Even if all the mythica did come together I don't think they would even be half of the six billion humans that live on the planet today.

Helios smiles mischievously back at Keiko. Because he's a pushover and softy and gives all the household pets far too many treats.

"I think American food is primarily what Seventh Heaven serves, isn't it? But Indian could go new and interesting. Something made after djinn maybe."

Oh no we do. They live in the regions around Siberia and the Himalayas too. But a good majority live in Japan.

"Indian food would be fantastic. Maybe some sort of curry, with that bread? Oh, what's it called...? That flat sort."

Do they also have stories about them, then?

It's...almost like a blanket of sorts. Coating whatever falls beneath it. It has a softness to it, and yet there's also a subtle harsh reality that makes it, um, more realistic. [ Snow was all good and fun but there was also something to be wary about when within it. ]

[Ah, the distance of one who remembers, who knows. It's enough to leave him silent for a few moments.]

...The best and the worst feelings the world can offer, depending on the moment. I can see why certain people would seek that miracle... and why others would surely think it a curse.

[He'd take his current relationship with Rosa over that, no matter what.]

I hope. Would be nice to have a calm holiday and a proper birthday celebration for you.

The Malnosso liking anything like that seems kind of odd. I mean, it's a very Earth-centric holiday surely?

[He's quiet for a moment, chewing on his lip and then he pulls out something. A leather bracelet with a little leather clasp, symbols marked into the leather.]

I know you don't like showing off what happened but I thought... It's like my sight shield, the one on my arm. I thought you could try it out.

That's an excellent way of putting it. And very accurate, too. It covers up all of the imperfections of the world for at least a little while.

There are rather a lot of you.

[Heck, it's what keeps him mostly behaving here. He doesn't want to spend the rest of however long fighting. Even he would eventually be overwhelmed. Though at least on earth, death is permanent, which helps.]

Though I suppose it depends on the size of...appetites. You're not likely to get a sort of perfect alliance though, anyway. Bad luck for them.

"Is is a good food to eat with a group of friends or-or family. It could certainly set the mood for the place." He'll have to find some recipes for that style of dish then.

"They have a bunch of flatbreads but I think the most common is Naan?"

It-it doesn't have to be perfect, nothing ever is usually. But I-I can't just give up on all the myths that have expressed interest to join and help me. It wouldn't be fair.

[ So he will try his best to make it happen, even if it won't be perfect or as cookie cut as the fairytales and stories will paint it to be. ]

[ Helios is silent as well for a moment as he remembers things long since lost and gone. He almost doesn't remember how it felt to be with Elise. ]

Yes. I suppose it depends on the moment and the experience. I-I wouldn't give it up for the world if-if I had the choice.

Yes see? All you need is a little positive thinking! I'm sure everything will turn out alright between the two of you.

[ Or that is the sincerest of hopes. ]

They do, yes. Mostly they come up as just ghost stories in local villages and temples.

[ He'll give a somewhat wistful sigh as he thinks for a moment. ]

It reminds me of home a good deal. Not that-that home was imperfect. [ Aside from a few things that Helios declines to mention. ]

We used to get snow all the time in Romania. The castle would look like something out of a fairytale when you saw it from the outside.

"Mmm, yes. It's good, it's spicy too...and yes! I think it's called naan. It's good, it's a lot easier than a spoon to eat with."

Mm it usually ends up being rather calm, actually. It is strange but then again I guess that's because our, ah, captors haven't been shown to have the nicest of dispositions. But I think there are some that are from Earth...or at least have picked up some of the customs of it. I-I mean a good majority of the people in Luceti are from one version of Earth or another. [ So it's only fitting to pick up some of their history and customs.

Helios will look on at the bracelet, his breath catching slightly in his throat as Max explains. He always had wanted to cover the scarring on his arms. He never liked what it meant and he was ashamed to even being to show such marks to the world. That would never change no matter who it was. ]

Max...I. [ He was a bit speechless because this would make everything so much easier for him. He could wear short sleeves when he never did in his entire life. And he could actually go swimming and enjoy the hot springs. ]

I don't know what to say. [ He sounds immensely grateful though. ] I wouldn't mind if-if you're alright with it.

"Though it might be hard finding a similar device to make the naan in. I know they use a selective method to make such bread." He would try to be as authentic as possible after all.
